Re: fully dead

Once the game didn't sell, it was only a matter of time before EA stopped supporting this game. And with EA downsizing, the entire golf franchise is dead.

This might be the last EA golf game since it didn’t meet the sales expectation. The same happened to NBA Live 19 since it struggled to compete with NBA 2K19. I have a bad feeling that the next golf game would be PGA Tour 2K25 since the Lead Dev moved there. There is a better chance the NBA Live series would make a comeback than another EA PGA Tour iteration since 2K has angered a fan base for removing the Kobe Bryant collector level card in NBA 2K24.

@PalomaMarvel24NBA Live is a great example. EA abandoned the franchise, it wasn't worth their time and effort to go in competition with 2K. Just as in golf, they're letting the basketball market to 2K.

I really enjoy playing this game, not perfect but what is.

Seems to be less and less players all the time. Sometimes cant get an online match (PC) even on the weekends.

I tried 2K23 and enjoyed PGA Tour more. I guess we have to hope 2K25 is a step forward for online golfing.

This Arcade setup today with 15mph at Southern Hills is certainly not helping to keep this game alive. And the players for the weekly pro is going down fast week after week, this 12mph setup at Oak Hill is probably going to make it even worse.

@Katybee_1313 seems like you expect wimpy winds each and every tournament, doesn't work like that.
would you re-book a round of golf in real life that you booked (say weeks in advance) to only have the winds be higher than you planed for?
but I do agree, these winds are killing the game more and more and -EA- does. not. care.
you play what you get and learn from it.

@-Roasted513-, Well for Arcade, yeah. Traditionally,  this was the mode for very low wind where players were having fun to hole out half the holes. Now it's just a mode with more aids. I play those high winds, don't have a great time but it sure is killing the field lately. Not long ago, we were close to a thousand playing the weekly pro. Last week, Tasha ended up 70th and didn't make the 20% cut, so we're down to less than 350 players.

As for real life, yeah I'm not playing that weather and not many either, the courses are almost empty. We have so many great summer weather days in Southern Ontario, we don't have to. If the weather is not nice, we don't want to be miserable on the course. Us women are going to the mall shopping, and men can go play in their garage or men cave, whatever. Lots of houses still have their swimming pool open around here. If anything, we don't have enough rain and I've spent so much time watering my garden. Of course, if the weather is crappy most of the times oversee, I can understand you can't be too picky.

Yeah, we're very fortunate to have such beautiful summer weather most of the times. We have a Country Club membership and there's no way we're going to golf in miserable weather. Even our Club Pro won't do it, he told us he would do so only for big money. Love our long summer, golf in the morning, bikini and pool the rest of the day. We just closed our pool last weekend, 3 of our 4 neighbors still have theirs open.

Definitely more users playing Arcade, dad finished 82nd and made the 15% winner cut last week.

For Arcade, I agree the wind are traditionally at low speeds. For sim and tour difficulties, higher winds make more sense. The nice Los Angeles weather would be just right for arcade; yet they call people who prefer the nice sunny LA feel for arcade as “Wimpy Winds”. I understand why they advocate for Buffalo NY weather at Arcade; it makes sure they top leaderboard.

All 4 dailies are 12 and 15mph wind, that's one sure way to kill participation. Hard pass.

The game looks like in auto-pilot if the Daily tournaments consistently have the 12 - 15 mph winds. Unfortunately the auto-pilot is the inflatable type similar to the one in a re-run of the movie “Airplane”. When the game was still updating, there were more variety in the Dailies. 12 - 15 mph winds is a hard pass especially in Wolf Creek.

Kat played the random 4 and did just fine.  😃

They had random 6 at Pinehurst 15mph yesterday too, just brutal. And more brutal, I had to replay it, I hit the darn pin costing me 2 strokes on one hole, sending my ball in no men's land by a stand.

@BlackCat09522   EA Rory was easily worse, and you're wrong too about EA not getting rid of this game... they are. Totally abandoned like EA Rory.  In fact, they abandoned this one even faster than EA Rory and we probably won't see another EA golf game ever. It's all 2K from now on, well until they decide it's not worth their time too for lack of sales.

Absolutely Agree. There was a movie called "Keeping Up with the Joneses" with Gal Gadot. During the TW Era, EA was the Joneses. After EA PGA Tour got abandoned, 2K has become the Joneses when it comes to Golf video games. PGA Tour 2K25 will be their first as the Joneses.

@PalomaMarvel24 I hope 2k25 will have improved graphics. 2k23 was like 2d instead of 3d. Instead of branches blowing in the breeze the whole tree would twist in the breeze. Maybe with EA'S lead diginer going to 2k he will straighten 🤔 things out.

I doubt there will be much improvement in the next 2K golf game. From what I read elsewhere, 2K is going at least one more time with the old Unity engine. So it's going to be the same old feel like the old The Golf Club made in 2014 for PS4 and X Box 1.

Maybe 2K is waiting for the next generation consoles before switching to a new game engine.  In the meantime, it's just easier for them to recycle the same old golf game, and selling it for PS4 and XBox One users.

Anyway, we will see soon enough what the lead designer of this golf game will do working as a lead designer on the 2K golf game soon enough. Maybe he will figure out a way for the ball to not go thru the bodies of zombies around the greens.
