@RichACYou're so wrong on this its untrue. Yes there will be very good players at the top of leaderboard's. This will always happen but the strive to shoot and even match them with the round of your life for the majority is so very important for a sport games longevity. I speak as a capable winner of Tournaments and would never play my bad rounds twice, for the exact reason, players like @GrOOvke might have shot the round of his life and a 10 under with a single try that day. I hope that doesn't across condescending, its completely the opposite. Its the sheer definition of competition and for E.A not to offer this is biting their own nose off their own face. It creates longevity in their online play.

Sure for some people.   But the majority of competitive athletes want competitive matches.  That is why in popular sports there are leagues for different skill levels.  And competitve matches can be had at any level of skill.   Its why modern online multiplayer games have tried to implement things in a similar fashion with mmr's and league ranks.   Its why games like counterstrike and tw08 were so popular.  Because they essentially had community run leagues.   Its just human nature bud.   You have to think in more general terms.    People playing in tournaments where they feel they will never have a chance,  or where they perceive cheaters at the top of the leaderboard.   Is the exact opposite of whats good for the games longevity.

I'm not saying remove the public tourneys.  That is of course needed for the reasons you state.  But it can't be the onlyh option.  They really need to bring back private community clubs, private tournaments,  and options to communicate  and matchup with other players like they've always had in previous pga tour games.

Not everything is about being able to win though. I'm a big fan of the F1 games but I have zero chance of ever being good enough to finish at the top of a weekly event or other leaderboards (time trial if you're familiar with the games). I get enjoyment from simply able to improve, so let's say I finish in the top 50% vs top 60% I get satisfaction from this.

I do think limiting access to tournaments based on in game player level might be worth considering though, to give newer players a better chance of earning more rewards to help develop their own player.

That's because you are not a competitive player.  at all.    The nature of any player vs player game is competitive.  Otherwise its not even sporting.   Competitive does not mean pwning noobs and shouting git gud.   It doesn't mean playing for money or at a high skill level.   It simply means one who wants a competitive match.  And if EA is not going to try and ensure that,  while at the same time not giving options for the community to.   then RIP.   That means most of us have been duped and bought a single player game.

Enjoying competition and being realistic that finishing in the top-ten is never going to be possible are very different things. When you have a game that hundred's of thousands of people play, adopting the notion that there would only be any point playing if you could be the best just falls apart immediately. The overwhelming majority of players of all games can never be the best.

Wanting competitive matches with other players of a similar ability is a very different thing to discussing Tournaments mode to me. This is what the 'Competitive' section should be for, given enough participants and a functioning matchmaking system. You'd still have an overall rank vs all players though.

@Ultrasonic_77 Its actually really simple. There are NO single try competitive Tournaments. None!!!. You're commenting on things like improving this and that with them, but the bare facts are not one is single try. There's no Sim modes unless a monthly. There's no 18 hole daily. There's no 18 hole on Arcade and Pro unless a monthly seasonal. They are giving the bare minimum for Tournament players here and the game will die off. There is zero competition in them because very good players will play them twice. Even if you finish 50th every day, your competing for 45th to 49th the next day with better consistency and improvement. If you love this game and I think most like the core gameplay, even if slightly easy on harder modes then You'll work your way up. Competition is not about winning its about the guy finished 100 one day and having a great round next day to finish 65th. Without players there is no competiton, end of. Whether you win or not, the position means nothing on this. Its about getting your rightful position in a one hit sport. Its notorious for being a one hit sport after all. And besides, the EA Golf franchise only starting failing AFTER they started removing single try btw. Again its rather simple to achieve.

@RDR1010That wasn't just aimed at you @Ultrasonic_77 sorry. Still getting to grips with the forum lol

Don't worry. This forum software leaves a lot to be desired!

And I'd personally like all tournaments to be single entry btw 🙂.

whats even worse is that competitive is dying.   I use to be ranked 62.   Now I don't really have a chance in hell of winning a match against guys that go -8 consistently.  And I basically just see the same couple people all the time now,  if i avoid playing them. That means there is noone to play, they've already ragequit the playerbase in my timezone.    Makes me regret buying the game.  This is the most important aspect of the game to me.  You can add all the other problems to the list though lol.  But i buy online games to compete with others.     Can't blame EA for not caring  about multiplay options or any controls the users want.  They probably rightfully resent them.  Of course this was a cash grab. But I should have known better and not got my hopes up.  Online Gaming died 15 years ago because of cheaters and the uncompetitiveness.  Again,  you just don't understand what the word even means.
