I'd say I hit angled swing plane shots as I intend about 90% of the time so they're usable but not trivial for me. I actually like that there is an added challenge to hitting more advanced shots like this.

Initially i was confused by the shot shaping mechanic as well and thought it might be broken, specially since some posts seemed to suggest that a few months back. Turned out i just needed to learn how the mechanic works:
Pull the stick down diagonal, then push up towards the center of the upper edge rather than purely diagonal up / mirroring the downstroke. Should yield a lot better and more expected results.
