Reading this post I was feeling nostalgic about the old 'Links' game for computer that me and my dad enjoyed playing together for many years. I seem to remember that you actually had to adjust your stance for draws, fades and high and low shots. It wasn't spoon fed. You could also move the tee left and right within the tee box. Not sure why modern creators can't incorporate these concepts into their games. It would make it much more realistic. I know there is still a version of 'Links' on steam and tried it a couple of times but it is a watered down version of what I enjoyed about it.
I absolutely agree this is how it should be implemented in all golf games. Unfortunately a large majority need to be... in your words "spoon fed".
Though I don't think it's an issue... people should be able to figure it out these days with the aiming arc enabled that shows where the ball is going as you adjust your stance.
What is amazing to me is that these concepts have been around for decades and developers can't seem to repurpose good ideas. They would rather reinvent the wheel when it isn't needed.
I think that the Links series got it pretty close to right. I sometimes wonder where that franchise would be now if Microsoft didn't buy and kill it.
Now there is an idea... maybe it is time for Microsoft to get back into the golf market.
