@ELF014i will be playing both games in the future... I prefer 2k gameplay but I love EA's course list and licenses. I hope 2k can up their game graphically and get some big name major hosting courses for next year's release. EA has the majors licensed, but 2k could still get the courses...I personally -really- dislike the 2k downswing timing, but their course list is stellar. Not so much the official courses, but all the created content. There are some amateurs out there creating content every bit as good as the official courses.
I absolutely agree with you.
But I'm not sure what you mean about "DOWNSWING TIMING"? If you mean the SPEED of the swing or the actual timing component of the swing.
I actually like the timing component as it adds an additional level of complexity to the swing. And this an option you can disable in the game settings completely if you prefer.
But if you are referring to speed of the swing I fully concur.
And I am sure you are fully aware a lot of real courses are not label with their proper names.
There is a pretty good website out there that lists the best user created courses in the game. We used to play a different course every night for years... seldom did we return to a previous one because of the endless choices.

When I refer to downswing timing, I don’t mean the swing speed, but the timing aspect like on EA where you can be slow/fast. On EA, by tweaking the swing speed on you toons profile, you can get to where a consistent swing is going to be under 1% slow/fast. Since I use the slower speed setting, my personal swing is almost always slightly fast, which means I’ll have a slight movement from right to left. I factor than in on my aim.
On 2k I was never able to get it consistent no matter what I did, including calibrating the dumb swing several times. Heck I even made a mouse macro on my Pc version to see if I could get the darn thing consistent…. No dice. To make matters worse, on 2k the impact of being slow/fast is far worse than on EA, even resulting in complete shanked balls. I ended up turning it off, but honestly that largely ruined the game for me because it’s required for public competition.

I actually appreciate the timing in 2K, we play on the two higher levels. It introduces another layer of skill to execute a good shot. And it means you are not executing a perfect shot everytime you hit the ball.
I have mentioned this before, on hole 11 at Augusta I am always fearful of swinging a little to fast and pulling/hooking my shot into the lake with 2K. On EA that fear does not ever enter my mind.
I have played The Golf Club series long enough now that I can tell when I have swung the club a little too fast/slow or if my swing path is off line. In EA I still feel I don't have full control of my shots. The meter will show perfect timing and a dead straight swing path and yet the ball is off line.
I also assuming with timing disabled you can enjoy a round of golf in 2K. Playing at lower difficulty settings does reduce the sensitivity of the timing. You can always work you way up as you get a feel for it.
