Without knowing the exact challenge you are on I can't say for sure, but I think I encountered the same in some sponsor challenges. If it is driving one it is very specific. Be sure the shot type you have selected is "Drive" and use the up arrow when aligning your shot to make sure you are getting the full power of the driver. This helped me in both "hit all 5 fairway" and "hit 3 LONG drives" challenges. Hope this helps.
