I agree with all comments in here so far.
I'm so disappointed to hear that, after all the talk of an all new swing a while back, they reverted to just using the same old "put the arrow here and basically swing a full swing....and boom"
It's (not affectionately) referred to as "dial-a-distance" and is so antithetical to how one should approach the game of golf.
It turns the whole experience into an exercise of moving an arrow around the course in zoomed views and just swinging a full swing.
The actual act of performing the golf swing almost becomes an ancillary waste of time. One could almost just have the arrow and a "button" to make the avatar do a swing.
Without question, this is the biggest risk to this game and it's potential success and longevity.
Golf games have evolved a lot in the last 10 years since EA has been largely out of the space, and analog swings (and the hardware for them) are at a point where we should be (at least optionally) enjoying methods of control that we can learn and master and fully user control.
That's the fun. That's the challenge. That's the longevity.
And EA has chosen to "punt" and use a really old and outdated approach here.
It's so disappointing and dramatically overshadows any excitement about the excellent graphics.
