The game is aweful
I'm sorry, part of me really enjoys the game... but at the same time... I literally golf better in real life than I do in this video game and that's a problem to me. The game is continuously putting ...
This game is mostly all about Legendary and Pro specs equipped on your clubs and ball. If you're not using them, it will have a lot of randomness. And even some Pro specs are almost useless, starting with Danielle Kang.
Oh yeah, the grind is real for skill points, club and ball needs to be equipped with some top specs. Then the game is playing great.

Agree with this. If you throw specs on the randomness disappears completely (and then the game is laughably easy).
Personally, I think the progression aspect of the game was kind of dumb. It's not an rpg, it's a sports game. I can certainly see where some people when they just started would struggle.
Just a couple tips that can help until you can get your specs added to your clubs.
Prioritize stats in the following order:
1. Approach Accuracy (until it costs more than 1 point)
2. Approach Control (until you have turned finesse gold)
3. Short Game Accuracy (until it costs more than 1 point)
4. Short Game Control (until spinner is gold)
5. Driving Accuracy (until it costs more than 1 point)
Then do whatever you want to complete your build.
Make sure that you change your players swing tempo to match your own. You want to be under a full point for fast/slow as often as possible.
Know that the fast/slow is determined by how long it takes to from the initiation of the downswing until the stick returns to the center. This can throw people off if they have played other games with a different swing structure.

I agree that Danielle Kang specs are the worst (bottom of list in each spec); her specs would only work out for WWE 2K24 since any golf club works for that game.
There are specs that are desirable from the spreadsheet:
Driver: Cameron Champ
Wood: Scottie Scheffler or Lexi Thompson
Hybrid: Lexi Thompson
Iron: Scottie Scheffler or Tony Finau
Wedge: Tony Finau
Ball: Scottie Scheffler or Nelly Korda
The link of spreadsheet is show below.
