For me on PS5 I've found online participation rates reasonable over the last week, often having lobbies with over 8 players and the fewest I think being 4 or 5 of us. This is an improvement of how it used to be before the longer matchmaking time period and for me now at the point that I don't feel numbers are any sort of issue. Full 16-player lobbies is more than I personally enjoy and I'd actually prefer a cap of more like 8 or 10 players personally.
The issue I've seen over the last week though is far more disconnects than I did the last time I was playing online something like 6-8 weeks ago.
