Dear EA,
I'm a golfer and a gamer, I've played golf and golf games all my life and i am old enough to remember the original Electronic Arts PGA Tour on sega and also the Tiger Woods series. More recently i've been involved in competitive playing and also creating Lidar courses over on TGC and 2k. I've noticed that the feedback on social media has been less than positive so i have decided that I'd like to take a minute to say that i am really enjoying this game and the strategy, but there are definitely some areas that need improvements.
I have no issue with the swing or the FPS, it is what it is. The green grids and some of the camera angles i know are being worked on so i wont mention them here.
First thing that comes to mind for me is the lies i am getting in the heavy rough and the bunkers, using St.Andrews as an example, a course i have played in real life, when you hit into the heavy rough there your lucky to find your ball never mind get it out with any momentum. The long thick grass tends to wrap around the club head, closing the face, meaning that accuracy and distance is a lottery. When i am in the heavy rough on this game especially at a course like St.Andrews or Brookline i don't expect to get 94-99% as my lie, while i have seen 31% once this is a rarity.
It seems that the lies in bunkers also are just too good, Harbour Town for example has extremely soft sand and lies are usually half buried, the dreaded fried egg lie!.
In short we need bigger penalty's for rough, especially heavy rough and also sand depending on the course we are playing.
Mentioning St.Andrews there's a path on the game which is pink and should be white?! A minor issue i admit but surely just a texture issue and a quick fix. Also what happened to the march stones? There even mentioned in the commentary but are absent in the game, again a minor issue but a perplexing one. The courses on this game do however look absolutely stunning.
I fell that the flop and the spinner shots might be a bit OP, maybe bigger penalties using these shots when there available from green side rough would help nerf them a little.
Putting maybe needs some polishing and a bit more feel, possibly some greens like augusta needs speeding up a touch so that it feels like the ball is gathering speed when putting down a slope. I'm also yet to see in any challenging winds in career mode but its too early for me to say if this is an issue. One last thing is a slight issue which causes sound settings not to be saved in the menus.
That's it for now, enjoying the game so far!

I'd like to see a BLI (break line indicator) which is a sti k you move to see the slope of the green. And more cameras like a free cam I like the the game play in this game. No meter no tracers no putt aids great stuff

I was at St. Andrews on Sunday March 19 because as you know it becomes a park that the public can on walk on Sundays. It was in early season shape. I am a golfer too but not prepared to pay the large green fee on top of which the last thing I want to do is lug my clubs around while touring the UK.
You mentioned creating some courses for 2K. Hard to believe that after multiple versions that HB still hasn't figured out how you can create pot bunkers with their CA. In addition the courses in UK look way too pristine and they all have the same look due to the canned objects and so called themes for the panos. You can't create custom flags, tee markers or structures. In addition, why do they have divots on 600 yard par 5's and 450 yard par 4's? Placing divots should be an option in the CA but like everything else in their games no creativity is available. Until 2K21 there wasn't even a splash shot and after they added it you could use it for any lie including the green!
I think the courses in EA PGA Tour also look too pristine and would be more realistic if there were some native areas and not have every inch of the course "perfect".
- 3 years ago@SLouis2001 The actual course management teams will not appreciate their courses not being presented at their best. This is the world of sponsered business. I doubt it if any sponsor will permit their respective products not to look their best.
I do however understand your thinking as it makes perfect sense and I am in agreement.
