As I was watching the third round of the LPGA US OPEN at Pebble Beach yesterday, I couldn't help but compare the ladies' shots to those same shots taken on the EA PGA game in the same course. If the real life shots behaved anything like the ones in the game, those women would be pulling out their hair and breaking clubs over their knees!!
Come on EA!!! Get your!! Your game disregards the laws of physics 100% of the time!! I hit a ball on a par 5 second shot into a 5MPH headwind. With 145 yards to go I use the FINESSE shot and the RNG says I should land it within 3 feet of the hole with the 4 IRON. So, I swing away at 100% to account for the 5MPH HEADWIND.
What did I get? The ball landing 36 feet shy of the hole in front of it. That's TWELVE YARDS LESS than the RNG told me!! On a similar shot during yesterday's real life event....the ball went in for eagle!! Now, I'm not asking for my shot to land in the hole each time but twelve yards difference from what the conditions dictate?? WTF?? But wait, there's more!!!
EA has found a way for me to perform an incredible balancing act on the UPHILL side of the hole with my golf ball!! I can hit a putt TEN FEET on an almost vertical downhill shot and get the ball to perfectly balance on the edge of the hole!! I have the photos here!! That's just one of the bugs. What about when I have a three foot STRAIGHT LINE putt and I use the meter to the limit and by some dark magic, the ball STILL MISSES THE HOLE!! I could go on and on about this!! I've been playing the game for 97 HOURS!!! That's a lot longer than ANY of your programmers spent actually studying physics and geometry!!
I love the graphics and the awesome views of the golf courses!!
I hate the RNG (Random Number Generator) programming!! Whoever wrote it sure ripped you guys off!!
Regards,
Luis

They should have taken a lesson from hbs and 2k on how to make a good golf game, this game is dying very quickly.

I have made a thread that virtually compared other golf games with this one. That post mentions that this game should take the positive features of the other golf games to make a better one.
The two best golf games I played was the last Tiger Woods PGA Tour and PGA Tour 2K21. The last TW game had gameface and an easy to follow gameplay. PGA Tour 2K21 had awesome gameplay and customization. I got impatient with PGA Tour 2K23 since the second update force my ball to the left regardless of shot. I would have enjoyed EA PGA Tour more if Update 3.0 was not implemented. Update 3.0 made RNG worse and added lip outs.
The link to that post is shown below.

I think that the title of the thread may be a bit harsh.
I have worked in the field not as a programmer but in other capacities. And in my experience they are working to spec.
They are given the parameters of what is being required. I blame the game's architect, there is a person or a group of people that have the ultimate say on how the game looks and plays. All the design considerations. It appears this is the person that lacks a full understanding of how to play golf. That they didn't reach out to professionals in the field for input.
Or we could be the one's at fault, that this was never intended to be anything more than Mario Golf, no matter how it was marketed to us.
