The RNG is what it is... and as I have said in other posts I just hit the ball and go chase it.
The game is still too easy at the hardest settings. We played two rounds and I still shot well under par.
I have noticed that using performance mode my distance control is much better than before. Or they changed something in the last patch.
Things are a bit more challenging, but it still is no where close to where it needs to be. RNG definitely needs to be tightened up, and the swing mechanics need to better represent controller input, with options for all level of players.
And of course ball physics that make sense.
Yesterday while i was watching PGA golf i think the leader was - double digits! They must find a way to make it harder for them to score that good.
@SlimDown57I'm okay with it... it took them 4 days to get to a score low enough to close to what we get on one round.
I am not advocating to increase the difficulty for everyone. I'm just asking for additional settings to make game challenging for everyone. Even at the hardest settings this game is too easy for most of us.
If you had flipped the channel to watch the LPGA the final score was in the single digits after 4 rounds. And only a handful were under par.
Being able to shoot -15 or -20 isn't my idea of fun. Though I don't begrudge those that do.

Now that I have unlocked "Power Drive" and have been using that, I can see that the shot dispersion is ramped up.
I get what they are trying to do with that, it's a kind of risk and reward, with power sacrificing accuracy, I get that but.....
.... If I nail a Power Drive perfect on the middle, I SHOULD NOT expect it to randomly fly away in the wrong direction(with the exception to wind, that actually does make sense). I strongly stand by that.
To make my point, if my shot was slightly to the left or right, I agree with the dispersion being exaggerated for using the power drive, that's the whole point, but don't punish any players when they do something right! I can't believe I have to spell that out
I would much prefer the swing meter to increase in speed when using the power drive, that makes getting the accuracy harder, that makes more sense, but perfect timed shots not following the aim arc in the slightest, surely you can see how wrong that is!?
- 3 years ago@SlimDown57 2K is able to do it. They have several settings to control size of the swing path, as well as allowing you to disable the tempo.
I'm not even sure that the swing path does anything in this game. I have had perfect swings go awry, and absolutely awful swings go dead straight.
The same can be said for the timing in this game. I have had shots with a +distance land well short... and a -distance fly past the hole over the green.
It made me ponder the question about why there was no documentation on how to play this game. Maybe because the game is totally random in design.
I personally accept what is given to me until I am in the scoring area. It seems things in the game are much more tightly controlled there.
I swear a lot less at the TV that way, about shots that don't make sense. - 3 years ago@Stevie-G-you-see Totally agree that you should be rewarded for good shots and punished for bad ones with a small amount of RNG to keep things interesting.
And to increase difficulty just reduce the size of the swing path that constitutes a straight shot. - 3 years ago
@ELF014 You talk so much sense and I can see your dedication to the golf games past and present in other posts, so if you agree with me I know I am talking sense :-)
"And to increase difficulty just reduce the size of the swing path that constitutes a straight shot." - Exactly. If that sentence was a shot, you've hit it straight down the middle of the fairway - 3 years ago
@Stevie-G-you-seeAs they say... this isn't rocket science. And you don't always need to reinvent the wheel to make things better.
The concept of a wheel has worked just fine for thousands of years. Refining it is what is important.
My ex would disagree with you about me being sensible. - PalomaMarvel243 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Stevie-G-you-seeThe power drive for sure has a much stronger dispersion. With a wide fairway, the power drive is great. With a narrow fairway and bunkers close by, that shot can be problematic regardless of how well you aim your shot. The power drive in narrow fairways has bitten me constantly. RNG has constantly said What you gonna do when the bunker runs wild on you each time I use power drive in narrow fairways. For narrow fairways with bunkers at a Par-5, I use the power drive and aim for the rough because I have a better shot of making the green from the rough instead of the bunker.
It really is counterintuitive that RNG is forcing players to make bad shots instead of good ones because the bad shots are providing better results. The good results from bad shots are incentivizing bad shots. I like the idea of rewarding good shots and punishing bad ones as stated by @ELF014

Just to show how simple the game is, I won the Amateur Championship on the hardest settings possible minus having the green grid on and after the 4 rounds, I was -30. Another thing I’d change on the game is the penalties for bad lies, it’s way too forgiving. I’d like to see a golf game where it’s less of a shootout and picking up shots is more of an achievement rather than simply standard. I’ve had some rounds where it’s like Golf Clash golf…. Anything less than a birdie is rubbish
