The game wasn't designed for 1 round. When it came out, we could chose only 4 rounds, either Quick or Full. After being requested numerous time, we ended up with a patch for 1 round months later. The best way is to play 4 rounds, switching between full and quick rounds along the way. Like I play the 1st round full, 2nd and 3rd quick, the final round either full or quick. The AI often begin with a great score, and don't do much for the following 3 rounds.

Thanks for the backstory. Fascinating. The game is amazing and I'm having fun.. but it has a very unfinished feel to it... things that you would think would be present (like a driving range) are missing. Very very strange and lazy feeling. The AI difficulty level makes little difference. since for quick games it just randomly selects some Under Par number with no rhime or reason. For example I'll have one course in the tour have incredibly diffuclt greens and stupid high winds and the game starts me out at E with AI at -7 which would... many times would be better than any actual PGA world record in ideal conditions much less this.

If it is a course I like I set it to Full for all 4 rounds. If it is a course I am not that keen on and I make the cut I set the 1st and 4th rounds on full.

That's what a Live Service game is, an unfinished game where devs keep adding to it. For how long they will keep adding to it, who knows.
