@Ultrasonic_77Could you imagine God of War ragnarok being released in this state? It’s what gives EA such a bad name in the game development world.
Also, was the game not already delayed? There is no excuse to delay a game and then offer 75% of it for the full asking price in my opinion.

Honestly yes, and a 30s Google shows me that God of War was not bug-free at launch. I wish it weren't the case but sadly all modern games have issues at launch. As an older gamer I blame a combination of the possibility for post launch fixes via the internet and the pre-order concept for this, neither of which is likely to go away.

Complexity plays a massive part too now, 4K resolution, fps, ray tracing, massive detailed levels/courses, far too many games being churned out per studio. Something has to give.
We’re now living in a time where game updates on consoles are 20gb, ridiculous.
Remember when we thought the graphics on Tiger 10 were fantastic, I bet if we went back now they would look like utter rubbish. Unfortunately expectations for games have also grown way beyond the games themselves, meaning ultimately large portions of people will be disappointed. This is all before addressing the trend amongst modern gamers for absolute toxicity about anything and everything, just check the YouTube comments section of your average gaming video, it’s chocked to the brim with it.
- 2 years ago@Ultrasonic_77 I hear what you're saying, but the difference here is, these EA games are iterative. There's no excuse for a 30 year old franchise like Madden or NHL to continue to have the issues it has, when there's been so much time to work out those problems, and soooo much money made. But we all know where both of those franchises stand right now.
Even PGA. The original PGA for Sega Genesis --over 30 years ago-- had features this game doesn't; namely instant replay. And as I've said before, EA had golf perfection with TW 12-14. Perfection. There's absolutely no (valid) reason why a game released now is missing 75% of the features from a game made just a decade ago, *by the same company!*
I mean, for me, it would be a matter of pride. If I was lead dev for PGA, I'd be disgusted with how this game shipped. If I was an EA exec, I'd be disgusted with how this game shipped. There's no reason for it. To coincide with the Masters? Why? It's completely arbitrary. Do they think if they delayed it 6 months and released a proper title, that no one would buy it because the Masters is long over? Nonsense.
Ultimately, EA charged $70 for a half-baked product that's put to shame by a 10-year-old game, and they *should* be ashamed. Furthermore, every angry customer is absolutely entitled to that anger. This nonsense has been going on for far too long. - Ultrasonic_772 years agoHero

That said, I've enjoyed playing the ballpark 100 hours I've put into the game so far so it's not that I can personally say it's been a disastrous launch either. At the other end of the scale, I'd be hugely frustrated if I was someone who had put a lot of time into career mode only to find that game crashing issues halted progress. This is the biggest issue with the game right now as far as I can tell by the way.

@theycagednonThis was my first golf game:

They were a lot more fun those games weren’t they, or at least I recall enjoying them a lot more than modern games, from a pure gaming pov.

This nonsense has been going on for far too long.I believe this is the first golf game in the series to use the frostbite engine? Probably not an excuse. But I think if you gave people a choice of whether to have the game released now as is with future updates for features. Or to wait 6 months I think most people would choose now.

I am scared that the next patch will address bugs and not add more private match modes.
private? I want more public modes. I don't have any friends or family that play the game anymore. I meet people in the game. I sometimes see them standing on the green lmao. Back in the days whole communities were built around the game and life long friendships were made in real life through it on the PC.

@benjimufc1i have like 20 people i play with. We set up out own private matches. But the only option is Stroke play. On 2k we set up tourneys where we would Play ALT shot. We would create team brackets and play. image below.

I don't have anyone to play with. I'd rather they focus on online multiplay game modes and social aspect of the game so more of a community can build around it..
- 2 years ago@RichAC Do you work for EA? Because they seems like they dont have friends ether. They never make good modes in there games to play with friends.
