Chard Guard vs Lost Pilot Zombies

Have any of you guys experienced any issues with Chard Guards not reacting to Lost Pilot Zombies in the 2 day Grapeshot Tournament? Only I'm having a real problem with them in Battlez.

With the Lost Pilot Zombies often dropping down towards the rear of the arena I decided to fill column 3 with Chard Guards as soon as possible. I thought they would throw any Pilots back so the Blover could whisk them away. I also built up columns 7 and 8 with Chard Guards as and when possible. The ones in the two frontal columns were dealing well with all the walking Zombies that came at them (Even the Spinning Jesters) and enabling the Blover to do its thing.

The Chard Guards in column 3 were different. I had a Pilot Zombie drop immediately above one of the Chard Guards. (Column 3, Row 1). The plant didn't react - by which I mean it stayed upright while the Zombie ate it. When the Zombie dropped to the floor, I put another Chard Guard in place. It, too, did nothing while the Zombie ate it.

I then had more Pilots drop. One was in front of a Chard Guard and ate the plant immediately beneath it. (Column 4, Row 3). The Zombie then dropped and moved towards the Chard Guard. As with the previous instance, the Chard Guard failed to react. It remained upright while the Pilot Zombie chewed at it. (A Dusk Lobber got the Zombie before it ate the Chard Guard, but the plant would have been eaten if that hadn't happened.

This kept happening each time a Pilot ended up above or dropped in front of a Chard Guard.

I thought that maybe Chard Guards didn't react to Pilot Zombies while in Adventure mode but I just hadn't noticed it before. To check this out I went to the Lost World and ran a map with Lost Pilots.

I waited until a Pilot dropped and immediately placed a Chard Guard beneath it. The Chard Guard immediately threw the Zombie backwards. The Pilot then dropped to the floor and shambled towards the Chard Guard. Once it was right in front of the Chard Guard, the plant bent forwards and then threw the Pilot Zombie backwards. That proves that the Chard Guards DO, or should, throw back the Pilot Zombies, yet in my Battlez it's like they've been set to ignore the Pilot Zombies.

Is this only happening to me, or has anyone else noticed it as well?

I have experienced similar issues, not just lost pilots not being reacted by chard guard, they aslo seems to be sticking to the ground and not affected by primal peashooter's knockbacks.  The parasol and jester zombies at times seem to be able to take more than one instant death (from cheery bomb and grapeshot) now whereas before only gargantuar has this ability.

It appears many things has been changed in the last battlez and I think these changes are intentional.

  • One more item to add.

I have the Lost Pilot zombies walking all over my potato mines without setting them off.

During the 2 day tournament I had another thing happen. There was a Gargantuar in row three. It progressed into the Red zone and it then stayed there, doing nothing and seemingly impervious to the onslaught from my plants. It reached that location at around 45 seconds into the match and didn't go down until the final few seconds. Like I said, it wasn't doing anything, but it was being constantly targetted by the adjacent plants and that meant it diverted some of my firepower from the other Zombies around it.

I recall I have seen this too but because it was a big garg I automatically assumed it can take some hits. 😮

All the other Gargantuars in the match went down normally, but that one seemed virtually indistructable. I was just glad it stopped moving, otherwise it would have cleared an entire row of my plants.

Perhaps these Lost pilots worked for Ryanair? (The only airline with an outside toilet).

I used chard guard in columns 3,5 and 7 and reinforcemint to throw the lost pilots to the high scoring zone.

When done exactly right it gave around 170,000 points for 1 use of reinforcemint without losing a plant.

It didn't always work 100% and sometimes i lost either 3 plants or even all the plants in column 2 and it took practice.

    VICTORY TO MEEEEE!!!!!!🇬🇧

(Sorry about the screenshot- i had to crop it as it was too big).
