EA sends the code to the email address that you gave them, perhaps you gave them a slightly different one when you set this up.
The only problem that i know of with the email registration scheme that seems to be quite common is that players using autofil end up with a blank space after their email address that invalidates their email address.
I suggest that you check your email address by tapping on the three bars at the top right hand corner where it says menu and check the details under the EA account heading.
My email address has been verified with a little green tick.

I have picked up a lot of info about pvz2 in the 6+ years i have been playing it.
Frankly, the current state of EA HELP CENTER is appalling and has been for months.
My own complaints have been closed without being resolved or marked as fixed with no action being taken, and have been for months.
I still have 300 aquavine seeds that i took a long time to earn and didn't get.
EA HELP CENTER just keeps on trying to push players with problems back onto this forum in search of answers, when what we need is a proper response from a person instead of an A.I.

I agree completely, I solved my problem by making an entirely different EA account under a different email, and then getting the login code through that email address, which obviously isnt a solution, considering now I have to remember another email and password.
The customer support here is absolutely atrocious, i'm pretty much making it a point to not have to deal with this stuff again if I can avoid it.
