I am using a Samsung s22 phone with all current OS and updates and over 50gb of free space. It shouldn't be a device thing. My pvz game was playing just fine on this device until about the beginning of the year. Now it is frequent game crashes all over the game for me. The game will crash during levels, during Penny, during arena, in zen garden, at the store... everything. Especially with the ads, but is not limited to that. Game will crash mid level with no forced ads.
And I don't want anybody saying player's think you are pathetic or could not pass the level if this is the cause. Capiesce?
I'm having the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, hoping to fix the problem. Now it says Identity Conflict and asks me to select an identity. Sometimes it crashes while loading the identity. Sometimes it loads the identity, but then it crashes during Identity Saving. I basically cannot play the game anymore...
Same problem here! Does anyone know how to get in touch with developers? Cant reload my identity as it crashes as soon as it loads.
- @Turbodonkey Same experience here, been crashing spontaneously ever since the new Penny's Pursuit launched. I couldn't get past Penny Pursuit Level 3 without a crash and then crashes continued in all play modes. I cleared my cache etc and finally resorted to an uninstall, and now I am stuck in identity conflict.
I have a moto g power (2022) running Android version 11 with 23 Gigs free.
I'm positive it started when Penny's Pursuit updated. Down to the hour. Because I play too much! EXACTLY the same issue I am having.

I tried everything but nothing works.
Same, tried every single thing none of them worked. This happens on more than one device. It's happening on a Motorola Edge 2022 plus, it's happening on a pixel 7 pro, and it's happening on my Samsung Galaxy tab S7. I hope they figure something out I haven't been able to play it for 3 days.

At least on my device the problem is clearly related to the network connection. If I turn my phone into airplane mode, then the game doesn't crash. I've been trying this for a day and it never crashed in airplane mode.
- adventure doesn't need network connection at all, so can be played in airplane mode
- you need network to enter penny's pursuit mode, but after you're in you can turn on airplane mode
- arena is more tricky. It needs network connection at beginning to find an opponent, then at the end to report the result to the server. So you need to turn airplane mode on and off for each match. Still the game crashed once for me when finding an opponent, and I lost my streak.
I have this exact problem too! I should have come to this forum sooner. I was searching on Reddit but didn't really find any other people with this problem there. But here actually a lot of people experience it. I already made a ticket to EA but they don't do anything. What a shame!
i couldnt even figure out which magic combo actually lets you submit a ticket. all the bug report and other tech help options i try are just runaround that point me back to forums. If EA wont spend money to fix their game, we should all open tickets and make them spend money paying tech support to field 1000s of tickets.
I do have an open ticket. I heard back from them but nothing helpful yet.
@apollos712Honestly, I think EA-India is overwhelmed with open tickets and that’s why it’s taking them so long to respond. I’m able to play on my iPhone and iPad devices but it’s like I have three different accounts when I don’t. They all have different amounts of gems, mints and coins. And you can’t sync to their server to figure out what the correct amount is. It appears to be a major defecation show right now; on all fronts.
I turned off targeted ads and that helped a little bit. Now instead of 30 seconds between crashes I have 5-10 minutes. To me that implies it is a certain kind of ad that is causing the crashes.
