I believe that Doom Shroom should be back in the plants line up, but only for use while in the single player game as a means of helping a player to get through a particularly difficult world map.
Having such a devastating plant in the Battlez matches would be a really bad thing, so if it were ever to be reinstated it would have to be rendered inoperative in the Battlez arena.

Considering how hard and almost impossible to finish without spamming power ups the new levels are, I'm not sure it would fit in EA businessplant for PvZ2 unfortunatly.
Or it could be a reward for finishing all the levels.
