@Perfume-shroom92   For forward planning, I suggest just try to acquire as many gems as you can as once we are switched over to the new system, there will be harder to get gems.

Sorry, I was mistaken about that.

So let me list them out and summarise.

With the old system rewards for quests, we get:

5 gems for winning a Penny's Pursuit level 

6 gems for claiming  2 Arena free plays

5 gems for collecting 40 seed packages

2 gems for watching an ad

------------------------------------   

18 gems total

With the new system rewards for quests, we get:

2 gems for playing Pinata Party

2 gems for winning 5 adventure levels!

1 gem for watching an ad

3 gems for winning a Penny's Pursuit level

------------------------------------   

8 gems total

So there is a reduction of 10 gems per day!  

I do aware there are 2 mints as before and there is an additional 2000 coins with the new reward but to be honest, that is equivalent to watching 4 ads, which takes about 5 minutes max.  It has been stated that this new change is to benefit new players but in my opinion, if you are a new player just joining the game, then the 10 gems more per day from the old system reward would be much more helpful in obtaining the gem plants or buying seeds for the new plants.

I wonder....powertoss said the last time the only thing that has increased when he calculate the calendar rewards was the gems. I wonder if the calendar rewards+ the new gem rewards from quests actually equals out to the old one... xD

Yes but that 20 gems reduction is for two weeks, whereas the daily quest reduction is per day, so in two weeks, this adds up to 140 gems!

But don't forget you can get up to 42 sparkly gems per day through penny's pursuit. 

I do enough grinding so I'm not going to play 5 adventure levels.

If they're going to redesign things I wish they'd use bigger and more distinctive words.

I have a 6" screen and it still looks tiny. (Grumble grumble, moan moan)

Gems are an in game currency and I think they're trying to get players to part with their cash.

I attach this month's calendar below so we can have a check. If you add up all the gems, there are only 101 gems, this is assuming you can get all the gems, as I know there are glitches that many players reported, Calendar rewards not being awarded on the day and has been postponded to the next day, so if this has happened to you then you are not likely to receive the last day reward of 20 gems.

So it does not mater where you look or how you look, we all are getting a worse deal with this new update.

Although we say EA wants more players to part with their money....they also haven't fixed the biggest bug of all that is preventing a lot of us from entering the store xDDD hahahahhaahah good thing i only need 2 more months before i can achieve my 3/4 shiny profile xD then i wouldn't worry anymore about gems~~~

Long time players like you and I have no problems but Penny's Pursuit is certainly not new players friendly, they either have not got all the necessary plants or the plant levels to win the difficult quests.  

So these 40+ gems per day are out of reach for most players.

(FYI, there are sometimes an 8th gem is dropped and if you are lucky, you might get up to 48 gems a day)

And unfortuantely...it just told me now that I need to download the newest update to get into arena.....

My phone updated it automatically, the forcing of updating by not allowing access to arena has been going on for months, which is what I was referring to.
