So let me list them out and summarise.
With the old system rewards for quests, we get:
5 gems for winning a Penny's Pursuit level
6 gems for claiming 2 Arena free plays
5 gems for collecting 40 seed packages
2 gems for watching an ad

18 gems total
With the new system rewards for quests, we get:
2 gems for playing Pinata Party
2 gems for winning 5 adventure levels!
1 gem for watching an ad
3 gems for winning a Penny's Pursuit level
------------------------------------
8 gems total
So there is a reduction of 10 gems per day!
I do aware there are 2 mints as before and there is an additional 2000 coins with the new reward but to be honest, that is equivalent to watching 4 ads, which takes about 5 minutes max. It has been stated that this new change is to benefit new players but in my opinion, if you are a new player just joining the game, then the 10 gems more per day from the old system reward would be much more helpful in obtaining the gem plants or buying seeds for the new plants.
But don't forget you can get up to 42 sparkly gems per day through penny's pursuit.
I do enough grinding so I'm not going to play 5 adventure levels.
If they're going to redesign things I wish they'd use bigger and more distinctive words.
I have a 6" screen and it still looks tiny. (Grumble grumble, moan moan)
Gems are an in game currency and I think they're trying to get players to part with their cash.

Long time players like you and I have no problems but Penny's Pursuit is certainly not new players friendly, they either have not got all the necessary plants or the plant levels to win the difficult quests.
So these 40+ gems per day are out of reach for most players.
(FYI, there are sometimes an 8th gem is dropped and if you are lucky, you might get up to 48 gems a day)
- @eieio_31310 I agree and with all the glitches the game has it’s going to put players off. The restore purchases and the penny pursuit filled it spoils your enjoyment of the game. The least they could do is to fix the glitches which they never do

And unfortuantely...it just told me now that I need to download the newest update to get into arena.....
They've been doing that for months now, I'm surprised you didn't already know.
- @MAGICDAVESHROOM I don't think its months.....i think you just got the update early as usual. I only have the update when Haem release the official statement...and i know the 'forced' update normally only appears a few days after the actual update.
My phone updated it automatically, the forcing of updating by not allowing access to arena has been going on for months, which is what I was referring to.

- @Perfume-shroom92 Something to look forward too. But to be honest I’m just glad to be playing , a few weeks ago I lost all my progress on the game. I’m so grateful to all the experts on the forum . Without them I wouldn’t have known what to do . Thankfully I have been able get my profiles back. I did panic as this was the first update I’ve done since my game crashed and loosing so many rewards is a right kick in the teeth
- @Lambsy65 Even though I moan about the glitches and the bugs and how i can't buy anything in the store right now. I do love this game. Its the one thing that accompanies me at all my meal times and when i am back from work to relax. I would have majorly panic if its me too. I got my game backed 3 ways and I am still worried! But hey, losing rewards in a game is better than losing some actual thing in real life!
- @Perfume-shroom92 I know , this game has seen me through cancer treatment and the loss of a close family member and off course the pandemic. It’s such a distraction from every day life .It’s a part of my daily routine which I need to stay well.

- @Perfume-shroom92 I’m sure it is . Nearly all the patients I met during radiotherapy where playing some game on a mobile device ,my chemotherapy was given over 18 hours , it was killing my cancer and I was killing zombies. And I’m pleased to say it was successful. It’s more than a game to me .
playing Penny for gems becomes a zero sum game once you have to spend 30 gems for 3 plays.
The only silver lining to the newest update for me is that the game no longer crashes in my old device..
You don't need to spend gems on pennyfuel, if you get your zps to 100% or more just after you finish killing zomboss 3 times your pennyfuel will automatically regenerate back to 15 by the time the second go comes around.
If you use 1x ad for pennyfuel in the morning and the other in the evening on 🌶🌶or🌶🌶🌶
You should never run out of fuel.

15 Fuel gets 3 plays, so it will still cost 10 gems to get to Zomboxx. Can you not claim the 2x ads for pennyfuel piggy?
If my ads disappear restarting my phone usually brings them back.
Act now and you too can make 175 gems per week simply by playing levels!
How you ask?
Simple
Each time you play pinata tracker, you get 30 plant seeds. Play twice a day for a week and thats a WHOPPING 420 seeds. A World pinata for 260 seeds costs 100 gems. To get 420 seeds, you will need to spend 161 gems. Then add in the GENEROUS EA reward of 2 gems daily merely for playing your pinata tracker and that works out to 175 gems per week.
Q.E.D.
(Which, as we all know, stands for Quite Easily Done.)
- @linuxPigPen To be fair, I play the pinata tracker twice a day and buy the gems for the pinatas...as its the best way to get seeds for a certain world as quickly as possible....
