I consider it is PopCap's EArly Christmas present to all lucky players who have this additional feature activated on their game.
Enjoy while it lasts as there have been many posts on subreddit, I am sure this would get picked up by the devs after the holiday.
One of the newbies pointed it out, i used it to level a few plants up but seed levels are so low it takes too long.
