Plants Vs. Zombies 2 - Arena Crash (Sep. 15th, 2022)

I'm having this issue that the game crashes during an arena match, however it's very inconsistent. I'd get in like 2 or 3 games before the next playthrough will crash the game mid-way through.

From my expertise in game development, I wonder if it has something to do with the game on the PlayStore being converted to a free version. In my case I've had PVZ 2 for 4 years now, and it's worked fine up until Google Play switched to the free version. At first, my purchases would never go through, my fix was that Google Play didn't consider my game as installed, so I had to install the now free version but I couldn't transfer my saved data. So I resorted to keep playing the paid version, even though I was able to purchase items in the store again, this is the point where the game started crashing unexpectedly. I thought I'd uninstall the free version to try and combat the issue, however when I did that it looks as though the free version deleted the game's internal storage directory on my device for both the free and paid version as well as not stop the crashes. So now my game is running off of only Cloud server data, which I don't quite understand how, and the game seemingly randomly crashes when playing an arena match.

It could also be possible that the save data of the players I'm playing against have corrupted data and the game crashes when it tries to read it. This is just my guess though, I really hope I can get some input on my case and get it resolved. I would really like to play this game, I've loved playing for all this time.

@EA_Illium    there has been many reports of Arena crashing and the guilty finger is currently pointing to the new plant Meteor Flower.

There is also a wrongly defined Pinata Party rewards which has been identified and I was hopping someone from here can alert the PopCap devs to push out an urgent fix if possible, because if nothing is done, then there will likely be no Pinata party rewards for the rest of the week which might trigger many new players who depend on the these rewards to grow their garden leaving the game.

It will be difficult in your case to do what I suggested. Have you had the same crash issue with the new arena rotation? Haven't been able to play enough to experience it

  • It is possible the cloud data is not the same as the current account.

    Try this...

Click your cloud P2Zv2 account in the game.

Unregister your account by remove the check mark.

    close the app.

Now again register your cloud account by re selecting the check mark.

    Click Force sync.

    Close the app.

    Try it now.
