PvZ2 problems on Pixel 3 XL

PvZ2 has touchscreen problems with the Pixel 3 XL phone.  Some areas of the screen (like the pause button) cannot be clicked.  The calibration is incorrect for other areas and you need to click off to the right side to get it to register.  During play, the touch registration appears to stop working for some seconds before resuming registration (but with the same incorrect location problems.)  The phone touchscreen registers correctly outside of the PvZ2 app.  These issues make the game unusable on the Pixel 3 XL.
