PvZ2 requiring internet to download content mid-play (while I'm on a flight)

Hi. I have an old Ipad mini. I would play PvZ1 on flights. Then (long ago) I got PvZ2 and was playing on a flight. The problem is at some point I made it to a new "world" or level and it required connecting to the internet to download the content to proceed.

i'm about to go on a very long flight again and am wondering if I will run in to this again. I'm installing the game now and starting from the beginning.  Is this still an issue? Is there a way to help it like have it download all the content up front?
