I have another idea but I doubt the EA folks will do it since it might reduce the amount of money flowing in...then again it will also promote viewing ads so maybe ???

Allow players a limited time to exchange coins for GEMS (and mints ?) directly.  A slight premium to using money would even be expected  to still make money the more affordable option !!
