Re: Sharing your Battlez experiences

This is by far the worst week yet...

Inconsistency with sun, plant food and time between zombies.

I use the same combo ......scores range anywhere from less than 100K to 1.1M

Also when Yeti appears and does his moonwalk.........absolutely nothing happens on my screen for at least 10 seconds.

Ditto CCMark2013, inconsistency is the word for this week.  My scoring range is similar to yours even with Mastery plants.

COLDWIND73, I am in the range of 750K - 1.1M with mastery Lightning Reed.  Good choice.

3 scores ~1M with different sets of Mastery plants

Bowling Bulb, Lightning Reed, and Citron planted far left, Snap Pea to the right of Citron (use most of Plant Food on Snap Pea)

  • So I'm using double Witch Hazel - which paired with Enchant-mint - eventually knocks off Yeti's head - but no bonus scores or anything for doing that!?

Also, not sure if I just never got the memo or what - but have found out recently that more times than less, you get PF whenever you let loose one of your lawnmowers in the very beginning.

Has anyone else heard of this or experienced this?

I've tried it several times and it seems to work most of the time.

Don't forget that letting loose a lawnmower incurs a heavy scoring penalty in Battlez.

I've found something that may or may not prove useful for when anyone gets the dreaded Yeti come on to the field.

The damned thing moves so fast that it hardly pauses when it encounters a plant and can decimate an entire row before you get the opportunity to kill it. This ends up with multiple scoring penalties, the worst of which is when it triggers a lawnmower.

What I've found is this - Once a Yeti appears and starts marauding it's way along a row, dig up the entire row, or at least 3 or 4 plants ahead of it.

I've found that if the Yeti has no plants in front of it, it's almost like it loses interest and will start to reverse back along the row.

Before I found this the Yeti would virtually always traverse the entire row.

Since I started doing this, I haven't had a Yeti go any further than column 4.

Give it a go and see if it works for you.

To be honest I haven't noticed a dip/heavy penalty score yet!

I have found Yeti doesn't really do any damage for me when I use Witch Hazel.....

And while we're on the subject of Plant Food - what have you guy/girls noticed that triggers plant food?

Is is killing the first zombie? Is it a manually released lawnmower? Do the mints cause PF to be released? Do certain plants/zombies cause PF to pop up?

    What exactly triggers it?

It's hard to notice when you're playing, but I"m up to my ears in PF lately!

For me, the first plant food to be released comes from the first zombie killed. The rest are released as and when other zombies are killed. I'm not sure which zombies release the PF, because most of the time they're killed before they make it on to the field of play and the Plant Food drifts in from outside the field.

BTW - I'm using a combo of Lightning Reed paired with Witch-hazel. (Neither of which is imitated). I use the plant food drops to get WHs on the field as quickly as possible, and end each match with about 15 WH and the same number of ERs. At the end I spam with Fila-mint. (Which is now more powerful on its initial lightning burst since it had a recent double buff.)

I've been trying to pay close attention as to 'which' zombies release the plant food, but it's almost impossible to notice while playing.

I'll try your strategy - sounds interesting.

For me - my plants are no higher than level 6 and I'm hitting 1.4M consistently.

Humplemann - thx for the great intel...I had not paid any attention to Joust Yeti's behavior but you are onto something...your suggestion might just help out other players.

When using mostly Primal Potato Mine (PPM) with Level 1 plants, I had very few plants in the center rows and Yeti would just slowly come down the lawn unless he was being pushed by a Breakdancer !  Sometimes the Breakdancers kept Yeti on the lawn as he was trying to back away.  I did my best to try and vanquish Yeti and did succeed at least once.  Multiple PPMs and Jalapenos were required.

Tonight I am back to Mastery plants and have teamed up Spearmint with Bowling Bulb (BB) and when Yeti arrives he is certainly moving quicker down the row of Spikerocks until I use Plant Food on a Spikerock to keep him in place.  I have been able to kill two Yetis in one match with multiple PF on Bowling Bulbs and one PF on Spikerock.  Averaging 1M with a best of >1.3M

CCMark, so many PF arriving near the end of the match !  Using a Lawnmower early is a risky business (huge penalty as H notes) but if there are more PFs than perhaps you can find a way to utilize these )with PPMs?) to overcome that penalty and achieve impressive scores.  Not a strategy I would consider but let us know how it entails going forward for the end results.

Edit:  did not see the extra messages on the next page - Witch Hazel I can try.  I have seen many different Zombies providing the early PFs; including a chicken, mine cart Zombie, Breakdancer, Conehead, even a Yeti.

    I reached >1M using Lightning Reed/Citron

  • I'm purposely manually releasing the lawnmower whenever Yeti first appears - and I'm not noticing any penalty.

    My lineup of WH X 2 (LV6) - Enchant-mint (LV5) - Sun-shroom (LV6) - the worthless Enlighten-mint (LV1) - and then whatever I feel like experimenting with in the last slot

Getting 1.4 M on a regular basis with leftover PF - usually full

EDITED TO ADD: Been experimenting with Lightning Reed/Blueberry/Fila-Mint/Goldbloom X 2 - nice results!

tops >1.5M, avg 1.3M with Lightning Reed, Witch hazel, Filamint, Spearmint, Sun-shroom

vanquished two Yetis in one match

edit:   the 'penalty' is a loss of scoring capability; not necessarily a reduction in score - but sounds as though it is not impacting performance so worthy for others to emulate

Witch Hazel Lightning Reed layout is a screenshot from just before I place the first Spearmint

Witch Hazel's in far left columns and replace Sun-shrooms as needed

I'm not playing much this week, I'm aiming for 4th in my broze week and I'm using double witch hazel, sunshroom, bombardmint and enchantmint for a score around 1m in bronze.

I start with 5 sunshrooms on either the top or bottom row then as soon as i plant enlightenmint plant 2 more sunshrooms.

Since the 7.3x update, the heat of this game is cooling down on many loyal players and now with the last mint in the series being released as a BS plant, this might be the last straw.  Battlez is not as competitive as it once was so I tried to cheer myself up by wining a match in Jade with a lowest possible score and I have the image below.  👿

I agree with that sentiment.  I am taking tomorrow off from advertisements and probably BattleZ Seasons as well.

Now that I do not need the resources for Enlighten-mint...no reason to play more than necessary.

Wow, 21k !  Can it be 'beat' at all ?  (and still win of course)
