I think @eieio_31310 is correct. This afternoon I had the chance to replicate this glitch on a Huawei tablet with Android running on it. I started a new account and tried to add a new profile for like 30min. I managed to get the keyboard glitch after 10min...but after that I was not able to get it to work a second time. The player selection screen seems to behave a little different on Android. When I want to switch profiles on my iPhone I have to wait for a few seconds before I hit the button...otherwise the player selection screen will close automatically (maybe that's because I have quite a few profiles that need to be loaded). This is actually a little bit annoying because I often times end up pressing the banner on the homescreen and I end up in Arena.I didn't see this behavior on the Huawei table.

Long story short: I got it to work on an Android device with a new account but it is WAY harder to get it to work and it seems you need to get lucky. On my iPhone I can reproduce this within 10 tries max.

@HenryThePear I also have an android device and got a couple of extra profiles while i was switching between my 4 active profiles.

I too have experienced this issue and many times I entered and played Arena thinking wow my level 1 plants seems to be very strong today and then I realised I was playing with my level 10 plants.  👿
