They've pretty much started over. They took a decent 3D version of the game with fantastic Arena mechanics (minus the cheaters, but they did resolve them eventually) and have bent to the whiners to make it more like PvZ1 and PvZ2.
I thought it was shaping up really nicely and looking really polished, but the crybabies won and sent it back to the drawing board.
I do like the new graphics of the most recent version, so I wish they had just used the new graphics and kept everything else.
With that said, it's not going to be anytime soon. Probably another year or 2, by the looks of where I think they are in the Development phase. You also, have to account for lost time with Covid.
