I (and quite a few of IOS users I know) have suffered with the same faults from this game.
The audio muting after phone ring and notification, the recent games where there are a lots of chickens, seagulls or any other zombies when combined making noises exceeding the IOS safety limiter allow and resulting the cut out in sound, I think these are different issue but show the same symptom. I believe these are known issue but EA is either struggling to get them fix or not giving them of high enough priority.
As for the screen orientation issue, this is also an old known bug but it was said to be the incorrect flag from the ads thus would need to be fixed by the advertisers.
For the duration I have been with this forum, I have yet to hear a reply from a game dev, only occasional responses from the community managers.
