restoring plants vs zombies 2 progress

I'm sure there's dozens of these posts but I've yet to find a solution. EA website just takes you to Narnia and back in circles.

I havent played since 2016, and I'd like to get back in it. Upon installing, all my progress is gone. If I check playstore, it shows my account as linked with all my achievements. However, the game refuses to sync, even if I force it. Can anyone help with this?
