Restoring purchases issue

Please Help!

Whenever I try and open my adventure or shop, I get an endless restoring purchases loading icon. I'm on Android. How do I get this fixed? Also, I am wondering if my issue with this started because I gave my son my old phone, and he started playing pvz 2 on it. He said that the game started right away and only prompted him to add his age and nothing else. It does show that he has access to the new plants I purchased two days prior. Is this the reason I can't access certain areas of my game on my own phone? I can play the special promotion games and the arena. I haven't tried Penny's pursuit yet. I'm not sure what else to do. I'm afraid of reinstalling my game because my son started a new game on my old phone. Please help. Thank you.
