I'm being hit by the curse of lower than usual scores, YET AGAIN!!
I started the week pretty well. In the first few days I achieved a high score of just over 12 million, while averaging around 10 million.
That was for matches played on the Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Thursday. I got the 12+ million on the Thursday.
Friday saw my scores dropping. I started averaging around 8.5 to 9 million. I was still winning, but with reduced margins.
Saturday saw further reductions in my scores. Down to 8 to 8.5 million average.
Today (Sunday) I had one match where I only won because my opponent scored around 3 million to my just over SIX MILLION!!
HOW can the same plants and methodology result in 12+ million early in the week, and then get under 7 million later in the week?
Out of desperation I played a couple of matches in the Practice Room. I scored 11.2 million and 12.4 million. I then went back to online Battlez and scored 8.3 million.
I then played a match at standard speed. (I usually pay in Turbo mode). That gave me time to watch what was going on, rather than having my hand moving like a blur while making fast placement decisions. I scored 7.8 million and ALMOST lost the match, but I discovered something that playing at speed made less obvious.
Guess what I found? I was being starved of sun! At the start of the matches I put out 15 Moonflowers. (Filling columns 1, 2, and 3).
Despite having that many Moonflowers, I was waiting for close to 20 seconds before I got my first significant amount of sun. (After the first Hamster Ball came on screen and made me deploy my Spearmint).
With that many Moonflowers I would have expected to build up sun pretty quickly, but I would often find myself hovering over the Laser Bean waiting for more sun.
I felt sure that when I'd played in the Practice Room I was getting plenty of sun, and even had some left over when the matches ended. I went back to the Practice Room and found that I was getting a good rate of sun production and scored close to 12 million.
Back in Battlez, sun was definitely less abundant and that held me back in positioning my plants.
I can't help but wonder if this is another way of throttling back on the scoring potential for certain players.
What with that and having to sit back and watch while someone/some bot is collecting crowns at a rate I can't possibly keep up with.
Don't ask me how, but 'their' rate of crowns collecting worked out to around 2 and a quarter minutes to play each Three minute match.
