375 is correct. I was in error. Ah, the rich do get richer !!
No way I can compete.
I only WISH I was rich. If I was I'd have more plants maxed out than I do. (I admit that I do have most of the Premium and Gemium (Those purchased with gems) plants, so I have put some cash into the game.
Other than that, I got to where I am through hard slog. At first I found winning difficult and could hardly hold together a meaningful streak and I would not spend gems on retaining a streak. I then figured that the rewards that low down were pitiful. I therefore set myself a target where I would start to retain my streak as long as any retention did not cost me more than 100 gems in a single transaction. That let me retain my streak 10 times before finally surrendering it.
At first my streaks weren't very long (Less than 100) before reaching my limit. But over time they progressively grew longer as my plants grew stronger through winning increasingly better Pinata rewards.
I then hit a 'Purple Patch' where I did REALLY well in a few consecutive tournaments. That boosted many of my plants far quicker than I could have hoped for and I started reaching max levels with several of them. That, in turn, took my win potential ever higher and the Pinata rewards improved due to the multiplier system.
The multiplier is where from 1 to 98 consecutive (Or retained) wins has no multiplier. Wins 99 to 196 qualifies for a times two multiplier, so any reward value shown is multiplied by two. Wins 197 to 294 are times three. Each following consecutive 98 win run enhances the muliplier until you reach a times ten maximum. After that it remains at times ten regardless of how long your streak continues.
I got my Moonflower, and the rest of the Modern Day plants, to max level during the Shadow Peashooter week after EA withdrew SP seeds from the Pinatas. That meant many more seeds becoming available for the standard Modern Day plants.
Basically you don't need to be rich. Set yourself a max gem limit for retaining streaks. Over time you'll find the intervals between reaching your limit each time will extend as your plants become progressively stronger through the better rewards.
Also, be selective over which Battlez tournaments you take part in. If you find you're consistently losing, don't be afraid of sitting that week out. (You can farm Gems and Coins). If you find you're doing well, play as many matches as you can. In other words, DON'T play just for the sake of it. Since Battlez first started I sat out three tournaments and built up my gems stock. Other tournaments I went all out and milked the rewards as much as possible.
