I have also thought this would be a very handy feature to have in place.
Unfortunately I can't see EA providing it. The reason being that they think in entirely the opposite way to you/us.
You/we want to SAVE gauntlets, while EA want us to USE them and then have to buy some more.
You're probably right, though the other end of the spectrum is that with a stronger strategy one might be more aggressive with spending their gems. Personally, I'm doing okay, as I should make it to the Jade league tomorrow, it'd be cool if I could create the strategy to stay there with, basically, level 3 and 4 plants.
