Weird!!!

Anyone else had experiences with weird scoring in Battlez this week?

Also, who shares my opinion that the Strawburst is grossly overpriced and its slow arming time makes it totally unsuited to Battlez? As for its Plant Food effect - TOTALLY USELESS - as it hits the center of the screen and our aim is to keep the Zombies restricted to columns 8 and 9 wherever possible. (Not used it at all, so another waste of a slot).

I KNOW that last week I started off thinking that the Holly Barrier was useless, but I changed my mind and found it quite effective once I had worked out a good way of using it. I can't see that ever happening with Strawburst.

I'll just say here that I'm finding this week's tournament something of a mind-numbing bore. It takes me almost as long to set up my defenses, which consists of six columns of Primal Peashooters, one column of Cold Snapdragons, and two columns of Explodo-nuts, as it does to play the match. PLUS it then boils down to constant Blover spamming and little else. (Other than trying to ensure I don't get carried away and run out of Sun before the match ends.) Because of this I've only been playing enough matches to qualify for my six 'Free' gems.

This will mean me dropping to the Bronze league, but what the heck!

It's well known on here that I favor combinations that include heavy usage of the Blover, but they usually require a steady build up of the rest of the arena as the matches progress and that makes the matches more interesting for me than this week's already fully laid out defenses. The lack of interest for me is what lies behind my minimal play, but I have also experienced something that has put me off playing at all for the remainder of this tournament.

I played a match yesterday against an 'Opponent' where 'their' score was ridiculously high. I scored just over 2.5 million, while 'they' scored almost 5 million. I was thinking two things. The first was "How in the hell are they scoring that heavily?" The second was "This is going to cost me 130 Gems to retain my streak".

When the match ended, it came up that I had won!! . . . . . . . What the!!!!!

The results screen also showed that my 'Opponent' had plants with a maximum level of 3!! (As I recall, they had Lvl 1 Strawburst, Lvl 3 Chard Guard, Lvl 3 Blover (Imitated), Lvl 3 EM Peach, and Lvl 2 Winter Melon.)

First of all, how did it come up that I had won? Secondly, how did my 'Opponent' get close to 5 Million with their load-out?

Something weird is going on, so I'm staying out of Battlez for the rest of this week's tournament. I was awarded a win for a Battle I had lost to a suspect opponent, but who's to say I won't end up being deemed as losing a match when my score is higher than the opposition's?

Awarded a win with less points than your opponent?

     It is very strange indeed.

Unless this is going to be a new rule to stop player playing to lose. 🤔

EA might value your contribution so much that they do not want you to drop a league.  👿

  • I have seen this happened to one of the game player hosting his game on youtube.

    This incident is not isolated.

(I copied the image too early, the player's score was 2,459,750 and won the game)

Weird for the score thing indeed 🤐
And yes stardust is useless in Battlez, as aloe was during his week. HB was OK.
Maybe the idea is that all star zombie will destroy most of your plant so using plant food on strawburst would not be totally useless ?😞
I hope that Hot Date will be more usefull in the next weeks 😎

  • I've finally found a combo that will usually get me a score of over 1,000,000 WITHOUT using blovver (which I'm not very good at using, still level 2/3).
I'm finding strawburst quite useful but PLAY THE QUESTS first to get the hang of it. I bought it but i had already got enough seed packets to level up a few times but suddenly realised that as i was paying 10,000 coinz that the penny dropped that not only was i paying £4.99 for this plant but i was having to watch an awful lot of ads to upgrade it AS WELL AS ACTUAL MONEY. Doubt very much if I'll buy any more plants.
    VICTORY tTO MEEEEEE!!!!!!🇬🇧

    LOL!!

I had even begun to wonder whether it was a case of the opponent's score was showing incorrectly, with them having actually scored just under 500,000 rather than just under 5 million.

I have heard of, and now witnessed for myself, instances where the opposition scoring is suddenly hiked to stupid levels. Perhaps this was an instance where the engineered hike failed to register when it came to the final result and the EA systems read it at the lower figure.

With the way it would appear that matches are being manipulated, maybe this was a case where one went wrong and I won instead of the intended induced loss?

    Who knows?

The one certain fact is that we'll never get a straight or definitive answer from a certain quarter.

WOW! Someone using not one, but two mint plants!!

I have tried the Reinforce-mint in Battlez and didn't think much of it, despite having previously taken a punt by upgrading it to level 8. I found the cool down time within the Battlez matches was still way too long when compared to using the slot for another offense or defense plant.

I have found that the Mint plants are pretty good when playing the Endless modes in Adventure. (Even the much maligned Fila-Mint.) I took the plunge late on and purchased the Fila-Mint and then took it to level 2. In a way I wish I'd taken it higher, because it's way more effective in Adventure mode than it is in Battlez. (Likewise for Reinforce-Mint and Bombard-Mint.)

I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of players I've come up against who've been using a Mint plant. (I beat all of them - NOT bragging, just saying how the matches panned out.)

Sorry @Humplemann, see you next week though.

After what happened to me yesterday. (See my post headed "GRRR!!!) I've decided to re-enter the fray.

It's amazing how a feeling of indignation can rekindle the enthusiasm of someone who was becoming jaded by a combination of boredom and suspicion.

Finding that a variation on my favorite strategy increased my scoring by around 20% also helped a bit.😉
