Totally agree with you, the lightning reed is just literally the most worthless plant in the game now, it's damage is so tiny and irrelevant that here is no reason at all to use it; yet here are still missions and even pinata special missions where the devs just force us to use it, but even in specific missions where we forced to use it, it's so bad that most damage are still done by other plants anyway. Yet, the other plants get so overpowered with upgrades that it takes almost no effort to use them, and even beginner's peashooter is far, FAR superiour than fully upgraded lightning reed. Currently peashooter is able to kill standard zombie in 3 shot while it still takes over 10 shots to kill a single zombie with fully upgraded lightning reed.
The devs really should get their * straight and at least increase it's initial damage to 0.5 instead of mere 0.25, because it's just too damn useless to ever bother to use it anywhere. Yet the devs made a welcome sign saying "we heard you!" in their recent update. :/ Such a blatant lie... I don't know if they even read forums, at least sometimes or not at all...
