What is the model of your iPad and what version of IOS are you using?
I have been playing this game on my iPad for a year without any problems. This situation started to occur in the last six months, and it has become increasingly frequent. Today, I was just browsing levels, and it automatically quit the game. I was wondering if there might be a reason for the low device configuration, but I’m not sure
Your iPad is relatively new so I do not believe it is the problem. I play on a range of iPhones and this works without crashing even with the 6S I bought in 2015! Have you a spare iPhone you can install the game just to have a check?
Also, if you have not register your email, I strongly suggest you should do it now (and get 25 free gems) for if anything else goes wrong in the future, you have a better chance of recovering your progress onto another deivce.
Thank you for your reply! I tried to play this game on my iPhone, and it was very smooth. The software has not crashed so far. However, why is there no sound when I play on my phone... I have restarted the game, but there is still no sound. It is ridiculous...
And again why does my iPad suddenly have this problem? I called Apple technical support, and they said it was probably caused by a bug in the game, and suggested me to wait for the game developer to fix this bug. But I have played for more than a year without any problems, and I haven't made any major changes. Why did this suddenly appear? Is it possible that the game has been played for a long time and the game progress document is too large?

I have both sound effect and in game music playing on my iphones so this could be a setting issue.
Please check your phone is not set to silence. (top slider switch on left edge is on the up position)
Please check the PVZ2 in game audio settings. (Music and Sound FX adjusted to the right)
AS for game being played a long time, some files do increase but I would expect IOS would have room to accommodate and if resources are low, I would expect the system prompt a message to notify the user.
I corrected my statement. I just played it again on my phone and also crash, quit automatically at the same level!! It's surprisingly consistent with the phenomenon on iPad. Why is that? Is there something wrong with my game account??
Could you give more details on what you were playing when it crash? Was this a world level and if so which one? What plants were you using? If these are just standard F2P world plants I might be able to give it a try on my phone and see if the fault can be replicated.
There is a possibility some data corruption on your game saved file if the same issue shows up on both of your devices and other players do not experiencing the problem.
As with regards to all the games installed on your phone have no sound when playing, this somehow suggests the fault is not with the games but the device, maybe music and sound effect are sampled and handled by different hardware (ICs) on the phone thus music is ok while in game sound effect are muted, but this is only me guessing.
