Why Even Have a Fan Vote for Rock Hall of Fame?

The Rock HOF announced their inductees for 2020. The top 3 vote getters in the fan vote were NOT inducted. My condolences to:

Pat Benatar

Dave Matthews Band

Judas Priest

I can't argue with including T-Rex or Depeche Mode but Gawd sakes why bother asking the fans? 

Doobie Brothers - absolutely belong and were in top 5 fan vote.

Can't argue with 9 Inch Nails either although they were never one of my favorites. And for God's sake it's the ROCK HOF. WTF does Notorious B.I.G. have to do with ROCK?

Guys, you blew it.

    @Perfume-shroom92 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For the biggest acts in Rock and Roll.
    Donovan and U2 are in it as well as The Beatles, the Stones and many other acts from your side of the pond. Kinks, Who, Dave Clark 5, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Clapton, Led Zeppelin, etc. They induct new acts each year from influential rock artists who have been active for at least 25 years. They started having a fan vote several years back and are supposed to give the fans a say in who they think are worthy artists.

    And I forgot to mention Soundgarden. They finished in the top 5 as well and got snubbed. It is truly a Black Hole Sun day for rock.

    @Perfume-shroom92 lol I was about to ask for a Linux translator :D everything sounded foreign to me. Was trying to wrap my head what it had to do with PvZ 2 as there was a vote for fave Peashooter (mine was Shadow) a couple months back. Somehow Electric Pea won. I digress.
    I understand now... it was a non-PvZ 2 rant from Linux.

    Ok here's the PVZ content. Let's all vote for BB as our favorite plant by spending coins on it if EA should grace us with a second offering of this most delectable non comestible later this evening!

    In other news of musical note, Annie Lenox and Dave Stewart were just elected to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Yet Eurythmics fell short in their bid for the rock hall a few years back. I hope they get another shot.
