1-2 Players on PvZ GW PS4?

I've got a new copy of PvZ Garden Warfare (the first one), I haven't unwrapped it yet because I'm only interested in playing it locally with my wife and I haven't been able to find a definitive answe...

Hi, the split-screen mode lets you play Garden Ops, which is a wave defense/horde mode, playable offline on PS4. 


If you go online one person per system can play competitive multiplayer, or can join a 4-player Garden Ops game.

    So even if I don't subscribe to PS+ I can play the Garden Ops mode local multiplayer with one other person?
