Ability discussion: peel shield and mood shield

Peel shield and mood shield.

Peel shield-default gw2. Power in bfn.

Gw2 description:

Harnessing cutting edge bio-citronics, the Peel Shield absorbs all incoming damage while still allowing you to shoot through it!

Citron will create a square orange shield in front of himself. The shield has the capability of absorbing incoming damage for a maximum of 30 seconds. It can withstand up to 75 damage before the shield disappears. 30 second cooldown.

Bfn citrons shield has 600 health and it regenerates its health when not in use. Citron moves slower while the shield is out. Additionally, Citron also gains ammo when blocking damage.

Mood shield-special

Gw2 description: Stronger than its Peel Shield counterpart, this shield can withstand more incoming damage, but has a much shorter duration. It also changes color so you know when it's almost destroyed!

Citron summons an oval shield with more health and changes color depending on how much damage it has taken. It starts off as blue, then changes to green when it's at medium health, then red when it's almost destroyed. 150 health, 8 second duration, and a 30 second cooldown.

Mood shield should probably be buffed to 10 seconds as it doesn't last long enough.

Gw2 peel shield is fine.

I despise the bfn shield and bfn citron in general.

He was meant to be a supportive tank but is strong enough to be one of, if not the best, 1v1 plants and has almost no bad matchups if played correctly. This character was designed to be annoying and greatly benefits from bfn features (sprinting, no dmg dropoff, upgrades, etc). He has a weapon that shreds at close range with 12 damage per shot, a long range option in navel laser, 360° sprint, a easy to use stun, 600 health shield that can be stupidly buffed by upgrades alongside even giving him ammo, and an insta 75 damage dash. Screw this character.

  • The BfN shield for Citron was meant to make them the team tank and I don't hate the idea, but in game they are so obnoxious to deal with and seeing them tagteam to spawn camp on Preserve Pastures is maddening.

In GW2, it was more of a self-preservation thing than a team support ability, and mood shield needs a buff to make it viable. It blocks a bigger alpha, but doesn't last long enough, even if I love the idea of the color changing.

A more supportive, front line Citron isn't the worst idea ever, but it needs to at the very least, not get its shield back so quickly, one of my main issues with it.

@Iron_Guard8 A team shield is an ok idea. The problem is that citron is great at everything in bfn, has no real weakness besides the entire enemy team ganging up on him, and can 1v1 every character in the game with low-mid difficulty.

Mood shield just needs to last longer and it would be fine, maybe even buff it to half of peel shields duration at 15 seconds since its twice as strong.

Reinhardt from overwatch is what citron needed to be but instead we have the most op plant in the game with several upgrades that make him even better.
