Well, for the simple reason that they shouldn't have it all their way. Their burrowing approach is practically soundless, their goop/spikeweed combo is an inevitable kill, come to which their health is pretty high too (175). A well-handled chomper, particularly in the shorter game modes, puts you in the top tier every time.
