Splatoon fan confirmed.
I know in GW1 soldiers hiding on all the rooftops was a common sight, mostly to avoid Chompers of course. I see that less in GW2 likely mostly from the different maps.
Burrowed Chompers are only vulnerable to Engineer sonic grenades/mines or when they begin their burrow there's a window where you can knock them out of it with All-Star charges (Super Brainz kicks used to do this too but not any more after the latest balance patch). With more classes there are generally less engineers so less zombies capable of stopping their teammates and themselves getting chomped. The ability to burrow up walls would be extremely game changing, making Chompers too good for sure.
It doesn't help that the sonic stun doesn't always stop the Chompers getting you anyway. I've seen it often enough in matches; Chomper burrows under a mine, the mine goes off but the Chomper still chomps its victim. Never good when your countermeasure fails even though it supposedly worked.

That's what chomp cannon is for, although I think chomp cannon should do 125 damage to wipe out Soldiers.

I love the surprise Chomp Cannon attack! I play Chompers less than any other character but it's nice to change it up from goop at times. One-shotting Scientists that think they're safe is hilarious.
- AceB0117 years agoSeasoned VeteranWell my most played plant is the Yeti Chomper, but the idea to burrow up walls i don't think is some good idea at all, and yes the Chomper is one of my favorite plants, because to play with the Chomper is more like a strategy to me instead to just burrow and attack and get vanquished, i'm hiding behind bushes, walls, obstacles etc (watch, follow the zombies and burrow), planning my assault or defense depends on the game play, and i'm 90% of the playing in top 5 in plants side, also rare me to be in negativity, example i did 15 vanquishes but i got 20 times vanquished that's -5, so i'm always +5 in positive, sometimes if the enemies aka zombies aren't that good players i'm even over +10 difference. And yes with the Chomp cannon i had many times vanquished soldiers, also the imp robots. Just what i want to see in the update for the Chomper is, to chew or swallow the zombies faster, even with the ability for quick ''digestion'' isn't very improved, also when chewing isn't bad the Spike Weed to can be used, so mostly Super Brainz can get stuck in it, and maybe vanquished as they need to be closer to do damage. Anyway i like the idea that dwooten77 wrote about it, to give them slippery feet and they to fall off the roof, hope they gonna make it in game
