Scientists seem overpowered only to those who don't know how to deal with them.
Then please tell me how to deal with a Scientist that is SUDDENLY in your face! Because that basicly usually how it is. Thats where the problem is.
I dnt mind them having a warp, but they should NOT be able to take you out with ~3 shots and not you being able to dodge them what so ever!!
THATS the problem!
H U G E spread and H U G E dmg together with a warp.
So you say he takes a big risk getting up close. Well let me tell you that you are most likely dead before you know it.
So tell me, how do you deal with him when he is in your face with his supergun? How do you move out of his spread?
The biggest problem i have with Scientists now is the Sticky Explody Ball. It allows the Scientist to abandon his healing once again and even cover ground he can't even see.
And once thrown behind an opponent like a flower, they will walk right into it to receive 50-100 dmg. So it can be even less than 3 hits to vanquish someone.
And then these balls have terrible hitboxes and way too much HP. I've had it so many times, that i stood there for 10 seconds shooting at a Sticky Ball that was in the way, only to see a blind team mate walk right into it.

As Chomper you just Goop Spikeweed/Burrow. As Pea you immediatly go into hyper you hear the Teleport.
As Citron you can Ball up and speed away/into him or EMPeach him. As Corn you Husk Hop away or take him out with it.
As Rose you just Goatify him. As Torchwood you just roast him with the fire breath.
Only as Cactus and Sunflower you will have a hard time. The Cactus requires precice aim and Nuts/Potao Mines.
The Sunflower is most likely dead if the Scientist has full health. But a Heal Flower and the armor from Solar Flare Beam can help.

Its not so easy when he keeps moving around and keeps firing his gun. He doesnt even have to struggle himself to aim at me because of the big spread.
I can turn him into a goat if im lucky to see him in time. If not, then I cant get away.
I have roughly 3 secs to react to find him, aim at him and turn him into the goat. Thats how fast you die if you are a rose.
If you play Sunflower you are toast, yes.
What do you meen by the "armor from the Solar Flare Beam" ?Sorry but I just hate the Scientist with a passion. Im so hoping they will fix that "HEALER" one day and turn it into what he is supposed to be. A SUPPORTCLASS and not a goddam ninja dps that kills things easier than DPS-characters. When will they see that something is clearly wrong here.
Pls give teleport and 3shot-kills to the Sunflower and im happy. How often do you see the Sunflower winning the kills and heals, huh ?

Thats like saying a Rogue in Wow deserves the kill because he suprised you.
50 is alot of dmg.
- 9 years agoIn all honesty if certain Scientist variants are allowed to get you at Point Blank range your chances of surviving are, at best, 50/50 with some characters and worse with others.
Not to be rude but the key to surviving a Scientist attack is to keep good situational awareness; don't just charge around, pause to look around for enemy locations and pay attention to audio cues.
While I get vanquished by Scientists who manage to sneak up on me by stopping occasionally to check my situation and surroundings I'm able to vanquish them quite often before they see me or before they can reach me.
I know it's really easy to just fall into the rut of Spawning and then immediately charging off towards the enemy but you can really improve your survival time by taking the occasional moment to look around and also listen.
One of the benefits of investing playtime with both the Plants and the Zombies and not favoring one class is that you can get really familiar with the sounds associated with each one.
I've been saved numerous times because I heard the launch sound of a Soldier's Rocket Jump which told me one was camping up high to the side of me, or the giggle of an Imp running around to flank me. There is not a single character who moves silently- every one giggles or grunts or mutters to themselves as they move so if you can't see them coming sometimes you can hear them.
