Any event when plants are just limited to chompers is going to be a mess. The chomper just isn't good compared to super brainz who has better attacks, abilities, and most importantly a ranged attack.
As stated here all scientists literally have to do is stay together in a massive pile and chompers can't do anything. scientists can just get constant revives and if a chomper does eat a scientist that chomper is dead shortly after anyways.
I don't think they really test most events and just put together what might seem "fun" to them without really having a big sized dev team to test the events themselves. They probably only test them in small groups.
With that said however i don't think this is event is as bad as the chomp thing vs tennis star event. Chompers still have a chance of winning so long as the scientists are spread out and aren't massively grouped together like they always are on time park which is a bad map in general.
