Battle Chest Guide - Mount Steep!
Hey everyone,
Attached to this thread here are my tips for completing all of the Battle Chests successfully in Mount Steep. This includes knowing what each of the battle chests are, their difficulty and my tips on completing the bonus objective, as well as some tips on winning the battle chests. The Battle Chests are located as you head into the Rocky Flats region. You should not miss it. Let's get started now.
Battle Chest 1: Just Build It!
Difficulty: Casual.
Game mode: Gnome Bomb.
Bonus Objective: Destroy 10 Engineer Heavy Helper Turrets.
Reward for Completing Bonus Objective: 3,000 coins and 10 sheriff badges.
The bonus objective wants you to destroy 10 or more of the Heavy Helpers that the Engineers place randomly around the map. Enemies include Engineers.
- Always be on the lookout for Heavy Helpers. If you see one, focus on destroying it, and ignore other enemies until the Heavy Helper is destroyed.
- Go to where the Engineers spawn, in Gnome Bomb spawns are fixed and lots of Heavy Helpers tend to be here.
- If you attack an Engineer, he may place a Heavy Helper down. If he does, destroy the Heavy Helper first, then focus on the Engineer after.
- Run around the map and look for Heavy Helpers, destroy any you find.
Battle Chest 2: Mad Science.
Difficulty: Normal.
Game mode: Vanquish Confirmed!
Bonus Objective: Vanquish 10 Scientists.
Reward for Completing Bonus Objective: 4,000 coins and 10 sheriff badges.
The bonus objective wants you to vanquish 10 or more Scientists in one match of this battle chest. Enemies include Scientists.
- Use abilities that vanquish Scientists in one shot. Remember though, as all enemies are Scientists, that they may overheal each other (for this reason they may have more than 100 health).
- Use abilities and attacks that are effective against grouped enemies. They tend to cluster and heal each other a lot. That's your opportunity.
- If you see a lone Scientist, focus on vanquishing them. They should have trouble defending themselves. If they warp, chase after them.
- Shared vanquishes count, stick with your team if you have trouble vanquishing them yourself. You should get many shared vanquishes this way.
Battle Chest 3: Imp Overload.
Difficulty: Normal.
Game mode: Suburbination.
Bonus Objective: Vanquish 3 Imp Mechs.
Reward for Completing Bonus Objective: 5,500 coins and 10 sheriff badges.
The bonus objective wants you to vanquish 3 or more Mechs that Imps are in. You don't need to vanquish any Imps for this, but you must get the direct destroy on the Mech, rather than simply contributing damage, you must get the final blow on the Mech. Enemies include Imps.
- Remember, Imps cannot Mech up immediately as they spawn in, so you have to be patient.
- If you hear an Imp calling in their Mech, try and find where they are.
- If you see a Mech appear on the kill feed and see that they have vanquished a plant, try to find out where the plant got vanquished and try to track down the Mech that way. The revive icon should help you with this.
- Run around the map and look for a Mech. Remember, they are slow so if you have the ability to sprint, you can catch up with them.
- Imps will probably start calling in lots of Mechs after 60 seconds of the game has passed, as that is when they can start using them. So, keep an eye out for Mechs after that time has passed.
- If you find a Mech, get right in their face and suppress them with damage so it is less likely that a teammate will take your mech destroy away from you.
- Play as an Attack character if you need the damage, a Defense character if you need the health and/or shields (or want to be Cactus), or a Support if you need self-healing, Jinx or similar, while doing this challenge.
Battle Chest 4: Outnumbered.
Difficulty: Hard.
Game mode: Team Vanquish.
Bonus Objective: Revive Teammates 3 Times.
Reward for Completing Bonus Objective: 7,500 coins and 10 sheriff badges.
The bonus objective wants you to get 3 ally revives in one match of this battle chest. There are multiple different enemy types and you don't have very much teammates, but this does mean that your enemies have less plants to vanquish. Stick well with your team if you're trying hard to win.
- Play as a Support character. One of their main roles are reviving. If not Support, be a Defend class (except Cactus). The enemies deal high damage so having lots of health (Oak - you can also use Hardened) or access to a shield and high health (Citron) means you are more likely to achieve the revive.
- Stay near your team so you can revive them if they are vanquished.
- Sunflower is excellent. She can revive teammates quickly, and to full health. You can run Super Saviour so that you can jump and self-heal while doing this challenge. If you run Refreshing Revive, you can get your abilities back quicker if you achieve a revive. If you run Revive Reward, you can gain health if you achieve a revive.
- Rose is excellent. If you run Super Saviour, you can Arcane Enigma (make sure to do that after you have started the revive or it will not work) so you get the revive for free without risk of being vanquished. You can also jump and use your abilities as well if you run this upgrade. If you run Refreshing Revive, you can get your abilities back quicker if you achieve a revive, which works if you are using Arcane Enigma (to get it back quicker). If you run Revive Reward, you can gain health if you achieve a revive.
- If you are Citron, hold your shield while you revive.
- Use cover if you can and move around while you revive. It will improve your survivability.
Battle Chest 5: Abominable Spacezombies.
Difficulty: Crazy!
Game mode: Team Vanquish.
Bonus Objective: Defeat 3 Yetis.
Reward for Completing Bonus Objective: 10,000 coins and 10 sheriff badges.
The bonus objective wants you to vanquish 3 or more Yeti Bosses. Enemies include Space Cadets and Yetis (bosses).
- Shared vanquishes count. You don't have to deal very much damage to get a vanquish on a boss. However, to get this vanquish the boss actually needs to be vanquished, so deal as much damage as you can to it.
- If you can, focus on Space Cadets before focusing your attention to the boss as it will make your life easier (for a bit anyway).
- Use abilites that deal lots of damage at once on the boss, such as Pea Gatling. It will help a lot.
- Expect to be vanquished a lot and use cover when you can.
- Try to use a character with mobility as the Yetis' slow/freeze effects can be somewhat mitigated.
As of for winning, if it's:
Gnome Bomb, then do your best to defend bombs you place on tombstones and defuse bombs if they are placed on your garden.
Vanquish Confirmed!, then deny or confirm any orbs you see.
Suburbination, then always aim to have as many points as possible captured, attempt to recapture if you lose a point.
Team Vanquish, then aim for vanquishes, revives and healing. Sunflower is a good choice for this.
Hopefully this guide has at least helped some. That's it from me! 🙂
