My character challenge tips for Engineer are as follows:
Earn 5,000 XP as Engineer.
- Use the "Levelling Up" upgrade if you want to earn this challenge faster, if you do, any action that grants more than 5 XP (due to rounding), gives you an extra 10% XP, regardless of your level.
- 2-3 successful games of Ops and Skirmishes should do the trick.
- If your Heavy Helper gets a vanquish, you get 25 extra XP by default for it, which is useful even if you want or need to AFK for a bit. Just try to place it somewhere it is less likely to be vanquished.
- Anything you can earn for XP, such as vanquishes, assists and revives, try to go out of your way to do so, if possible. As you are a Support class, try to revive allies if possible (and applicable) as that extra XP may come in handy.
- If trying to complete all of your challenges in Giddy Park, look for Gold Targets as they give you 75 XP by default for destroying them. Normal targets give you 2 XP as well if you are bothered.
- It does not matter if you do PvE or PvP for this challenge, just try to earn XP where you can.
- Hopefully you can complete this challenge before completing all of your others, if so then this challenge will be no problem.
Land 100 Direct Hits with Concrete Launcher.
This challenge requires you to land hits on your enemies with your Concrete Launcher primary weapon. These must be direct or critical hits and cannot deal splash damage. As this weapon bounces off walls and can be fired relatively fast, this challenge should not take long to complete. Use your Heavy Helper to shoot your Concrete Launcher at a faster rate in any mode.
PvE TIPS
- In Giddy Park you can use your Concrete Launcher to vanquish the Wildflowers in one hit. If you fail, you should deal splash damage and can have another chance.
- Stun your enemy first if you need easier shots and are at close range. It will also help with your stun challenge.
- This challenge is effective against bosses as they have a lot of health and a huge hitbox, making it more likely for you to hit them directly.
- Skirmishes and Ops are effective as there tends to be clusters of enemies, your Concrete Launcher is less likely to miss enemies.
PvP TIPS
- If there is an objective with enemies in it or clustered enemies aim your shots into that area.
- Focusing enemies with larger health and/or hitboxes should help as your shots are less likely to miss.
- If enemies get close to you, throw your stun out before you start shooting at you, hopefully you will get free hits this way.
- Remember, you can use your Concrete Launcher to hit enemies behind walls, you can use this to your advantage if you get the opportunity.
UPGRADES to ASSIST with this challenge:
- Rubber (2 upgrade points), your Concrete Launcher bounces off walls more times before they explode, giving you a higher chance to hit enemies.
- Breakthrough (2 upgrade points), your Concrete Launcher has a higher projectile speed/velocity, meaning enemies have less time to react to your attacks.
Vanquish 35 Stunned Enemies. #
This one is actually quite tricky, because this challenge requires you to vanquish an enemy while they are stunned. Very hard, right? For this reason, I suggest doing this in Private Giddy Park against the Wildflowers. How this challenge works is you have to stun an enemy, and then vanquish them while they are stunned, because Wildflowers are vanquished with one shot of your Concrete Launcher, if you use this method you should not find this challenge too hard to complete. Note that if you use the Bullhorn Swarm (your stun ability) on an enemy very close to you, it does not instantly stun them. Wait a moment, get really close to them, then when they get yellow stars around their head (it looks like it anyway), smack them with your Concrete Launcher.
PvE TIPS
- Go to a Private Giddy Park, go to the plants' area of Giddy Park. Wait for a Wildflower to appear, get really close to it, use your stun (wait a moment for them to get stunned), and then vanquish them with a direct hit of your concrete launcher.
- You could try doing this in Ops or Skirmishes, if you do, try to target low health enemies or weakened enemies and try to quickly vanquish them after they are stunned. Or another option is to use your Bullhorn Swarm in a group, and then start firing away and hoping that you vanquish something. Use your Heavy Helper if you need an increased attack speed, but be careful as the Heavy Helper can claim your vanquishes.
- You could try a Battle Chest, if you do, focus one enemy at a time, get close to them, weaken them, stun them, and then vanquish them. Remember to wait a bit as your Bullhorn Swarm does not instantly stun an enemy.
PvP TIPS
- This challenge is very hard to obtain in PvP, but if you're up to the challenge, try to focus on one enemy, preferably a lower health one, weaken them, get close and stun them, and then attempt to vanquish them after they are stunned.
- Another option is to try and jump/flank into a group of enemies, throw out your stun and get close, and then go for gold and see how many vanquishes you get.
- Always try to focus heavily damaged enemies or low health of enemies, if possible.
UPGRADES to ASSIST with this challenge:
- Reinforced (2 upgrade points), your Stun Mines have more health, meaning they are less likely to be destroyed while waiting to stun a plant.
- Dispersion (3 upgrade points), your Bullhorn Swarm covers a larger area than before, which is useful with groups of plants.
- Combat Aura (4 upgrade points), when you get a vanquish streak of 3 without being vanquished yourself, you get a small damage boost. Use this to hit enemies harder after stunning them if possible.
Get 50 Vanquishes with your Heavy Helper. #
This challenge requires your Heavy Helper to get a vanquish, and does not count if you or an ally gets the vanquish. However, you can get a shared vanquish, it can't be a direct one. I suggest doing this in a Private Giddy Park with Al and letting your Heavy Helper do the work. Put it in a location near where the Wildflowers spawn or come from and where it can get vanquishes quite easily and where it is unlikely to be destroyed. Otherwise, you may have to keep placing it. This method allows you to even AFK or work on other challenges while you do it, however it can take some time, so the quicker you get started on this challenge, the better.
PvE TIPS
- Go to a Giddy Park and set it to Private with Al. Head towards the plant area and deploy your Heavy Helper turret in a location where the wildflowers are unlikely to destroy it and your turret can easily get vanquishes. I suggest putting it right next to the Ferris Wheel at the bottom of it.
- Ops and Skirmishes can be effective as your Turret can get plenty of kills, however it may take some time as your Helper does not deal loads of damage, therefore meaning you have to re-deploy it. Try to protect it if you can as well.
- You can go around Weirding Woods or Zombie Town Centre and find stray enemies, set up your Turret and let it do the work.
- Battle Chests could be a viable option, but is less effective.
PvP TIPS
- This will be not easy to achieve in PvP. If you do, try to focus enemies with less health or that are weakened. Keep that in mind when you go to deploy it. Remember the Turret has Aimbot so you don't need to worry about Hitbox sizes.
- If there is a group of enemies, you could try to deploy your Heavy Helper behind the enemies and go in front of them. That way you can distract them and deal damage while the turret hopefully gets vanquishes.
- Try to focus one enemy at a time when you use your Turret, or if going for multiple, use the tip above if possible.
UPGRADES to ASSIST with this challenge:
- Progress Report (3 upgrade points), when your Heavy Helper deals damage to an enemy, that enemy's health is revealed to the Engineer. Use this to figure out the health of your enemies and which enemies you should focus on letting your Helper vanquish.
Give 30 Allies a Speed Boost with Double Time. #
This challenge requires you to speed boost 30 allies with Double Time, you cannot use your own Double Time to speed boost yourself as it will not count for this challenge. If you have another player playing with you, such as a friend, you can get them to step on your Double Time to complete this challenge extremely quickly. If so, great. But for the purposes of my challenge tips, I am going to assume that you are not able to do that. For obvious reasons it does not count if an enemy steps on your Double Time. Again, doing this challenge in Giddy Park with Al is a viable option because you can place it near the Zombie area and leave it, once TV Heads have stepped on your Double Time 30 times, then you will get this challenge. You can even AFK or do other challenges while doing this one. Just set and forget!
PvE TIPS
- Use Giddy Park Private with Al to your advantage, if you place your Double Time near where the TV Heads spawn or appear, you will rack up points for this challenge. Try to observe where the TV Heads are coming from and place your Double Time in their path. You can even work on other challenges or AFK once you have set this up.
- Skirmishes can be effective for this. As allies back you up during Skirmishes, try to observe where they are spawning and put your Double Time near or at where they are spawning.
- Battle Chests can also be useful. In Gnome Bomb modes, put it near your team's spawn. In Surbination, place it in objectives. Otherwise, just place it randomly and hopefully your teammates will step on it.
PvP TIPS
- Try to place it near where your team spawns, if the spawns are not fixed, then, if you are vanquished, then place your Double Time near or where you spawn and hopefully your teammates will spawn there and use it. Players tend to use Double Time often, because, well I would at least. It's a nice speed boost so at a minimum, it's tempting.
- Try to place it near or in objectives if possible as players are also more likely to use it.
- If an ally appears right next to you, try to place the Double Time there as it should trigger the Double Time speed boost and buff the ally.
- Use Double Time character upgrades if you want to give allies extra buffs.
UPGRADES to ASSIST with this challenge:
- Turbo Charge (2 upgrade points), you and your allies get a longer speed boost when using Double Time, which could be useful in some situations.
- Rally the Troops (3 upgrade points), when allies use the Double Time, they also get a reduced cooldown on all their abilites, which could also be useful in some situations.
# Upgrades that reduce refresh times of abilities, such as Refreshing Revive and Critical Blow, work well with those challenges, as you can use your abilities more often. Critical Blow is useful as all direct hits with Engineer are critical hits.
That's it for now! Hope that helps you all out! 🙂
