Browncoat Class Idea

Class - Swarm

Health - 85

Character Description - Browncoats... lovable, marketable, and deadly! Using their Zombatar skills and hit-and-run techniques, Browncoats can be mobile and unpredictable damage dealers viable at any distance. Group close to your fellow Swarm class buddies to earn armor!

Primary - Zombie Hurt - 35 damage bite with short cooldown

Secondary - Rock Throw - While aiming, Browncoat can chuck a rock that arch’s like Engineer’s projectiles - 42 damage and 45 critical damage

Ability 1 - Lawn Care Scare - When activated, Browncoat gets swept off his feet by a lawnmower and holds on to the handle for dear life. While riding the mower, his speed is increased, and any enemies that collide with it get tossed to the side, dealing 20-25 damage with good knockback. When the ability is either cancelled or finishes, the mower will come to a screeching halt and Browncoat will be flung forward with trajectory similar to Foot Soldier’s Rocket Jump with the “Rocket Leap” upgrade. While airborne, Browncoat’s Zombie Hurt will do 50 damage, perfect for getting the drop on pesky snipers. Landing directly on an enemy will also deal damage.

Ability 2 - Flag of Power - When activated, Browncoat gets out a brain-patterned flag. While active, teammates around him will be given increased speed and armor. Browncoat and other Swarm class Zombies do not receive the extra armor buff. The speed depends on how many teammates are around Browncoat. Secondary fire and abilities cannot be used while Flag of Power is active, Primary fire is still usable however.

Ability 3 - Zombatar - When activated, Browncoat brings his Zombatar skills and uses them to become any Zombie for a short period of time. There are 2 ways to activate it, the 1st is pressing the ability’s assigned button once to transform you into any class you are looking at, similar to activating Wizard’s Co-Star, and the 2nd is pressing and holding the ability’s button down to transform into a random Zombie. Options include: Parrots, Heavy Helpers, Yeti Imps, Space Stations, Z-Mechs, Double Times, Bosses, Bots, and all playable Zombie classes. Some of these transformations come with a unique “Browncoat” spin on their look, as well as new abilities for transformations lacking base abilities. Below is a list of their appearances and new abilities.

Upgrades:

The Zombies are Coming! - Increased max speed while using Flag of Power

One Giant Leap for Zombie-Kind - Allies in Flag of Power’s radius are given lowered gravity for a short time

Champion Eater - Gives Browncoat faster attack speed for Zombie Hurt after getting a vanquish another way

Starving - Using Zombie Hurt on an enemy at low health heals you

Browncoat and the Goliath - Vanquishing an enemy with Rock Throw leaves them unrevivable

Rock Skipper - Rock Throw’s rock bounces before breaking

Imposter Syndrome - Getting a critical vanquish while using Zombatar increases the duration of the ability

Someone Else’s Shoes - Increased movement speed while using Zombatar

Pole Vaulting - Lawn Care Scare’s end-of-ability toss sends Browncoat higher

Summer Job - Hitting enemies with Lawn Care Scare increases the ability’s speed and throw distance

Things to Note - During any of the transformations, Browncoat can still be hurt for critical damage only, watch out! If Browncoat’s healthbar runs out while transformed, his transformation will poof away and he’ll be dazed for a few moments. Browncoat cannot switch transformations while transformed, but he is able to cancel out of a transformation after a short time. When activating Zombatar by holding the button down, some transformations won’t be chosen, these include Double Time, Heavy Helper, and Yeti Imp. Browncoat’s Space Station transformation allows other Space Cadets to join on. Respawing and Warping Home are not usable while transformed. Armor buffs from nearby Swarm class players will not be applied while transformed. Rock Throw’s animations differ from the normal Browncoat rock throwing animation, instead of reaching down to get a rock he’ll kick one up into his hand. While using Lawn Care Scare, the mower can be destroyed, and the mower itself is armored.

Phun Phact - When brainstorming this, I had an idea where whenever Browncoat would Zombatar into another zombie, the transformation would look different in some way. You can actually still see this in the ability’s description. From Browncoat dressing as the other zombies to him piggyback riding them, nothing I could think of stuck. I did end up thinking up unique looks and abilities for each transformation, but I didn’t include them here. As of now I still haven't thought of anything new, but I’ll be sure to update the post if anything comes up.

Also, feel free to ask questions, I’m all ears.

  • @Door114This is a pretty neat idea but I feel like zombatar needs more options to really work as bfn kinda lacks spawnable choices and how would players tell normal browncoats apart from players its already a problem with tv head.
