Bug - Backyard Decoration Item Disappearance

I opened two 7-star chests in PvZ:GW2 this afternoon and appeared to receive a "Weiner Tower" and a "Brain Tower".  However, when I went to place the items in my backyard battleground base area, they weren't available in the inventory for use.  I tried re-launching the game, but that did not solve the issue.  I contacted EA support, who directed me to start a new thread here. They stated that they were unable to assist with the situation and at most they could only refund 10 stars.  I also can no longer open those chests.  Any solutions?

    There's 2 types of backyard decorations: one type of small statues that are used around the team's bases and another, rarer type that can only be placed at a single rubble pile in the docks.

    I had the same issue where I thought my stuff was missing but, assuming those 2 items are of that second type, everything's fine. Those items just go on a different spot.

    Oh, and I was doing this between 4:45pm PST and 5:00pm PST on 3/5/2016.

    Bump?  I was hoping this might get fixed in the patch today, but no such luck.  I still seem to be out my stars, my chests, and my 2 items.  ☹️  Any solutions out there?

    I am not shure, if you use those 'items' in the same way as the cheaper/smaller ones. I got a popsmart-machine from a 3-star-chest and gave up after searching the whole backyard for about 1 hour. Later I found, how to use them/that one ...

    - first you have to remove at least 1 'garbage pile' for 3 stars in your base (or hedge when you have a backyard addon for plants).

    - afterwards you can select which backyard-trophy/addon to display at that location.

    Actually I was slightly disappointed, when I found out, that my popsmart-machine is only a staue of such a machine and nothing funny to use/get from.

    THANK YOU EvilFlamingo!!!  I could not find this info anywhere online, and this was exactly the problem.  I only knew of the rubble piles in the base itself.

    I had a problem like that too. I opened a 35k zombie pack golden and got the legendary derby hat for ingenieur. When I went to my changing room and searched for this hat it was not there. But in my character book there is a picture of it.

    That's a different, also known issue.  Everyone who has that hat is in the same position as you, and it doesn't seem like there's any hurry to fix it.
