Cannot join friends games

Whenever we go into a party together, and then proceed to join a game, it doesn't prompt us that our party has joined a game. And then when we click join party game, it says oops make sure your party is in a game session, even when they are.

    I assume this is Xbox One?

    Sounds like you guys are only joining a chat party rather than a game party. When you or one of the friends joins a game, they can then invite you to multiplayer or have you join off them.

    Xbox's party system is confusing like that.

    Yeah it's Xbox One.

    That makes sense, however we always go into a Garden Ops mode lobby first to 'party up' in-game. And then usually we leave, go in to multiplayer match, and it prompts us that our party members are joining a game and we would like too. But this doesn't always come up, making it extremely difficult.

    Also, we can invite via multiplayer or join game, as when we accept an Xbox invite/join game, in the party it will say my friends are 'in your game' however they are not. When they accept the invite, nothing happens, they just stay on the menu.

    In the party menu, when it says the friends are "In your game" sort of thing, I believe this only means they're in your game party. From there the 'Join Party Game' button should work.
