Captain Cannon guide-thingy
This guide on Captain Cannon will focus on his detonation mechanics and how to work around his not-so-good short range attack, as well as covering some other stuff. Starting out with general strategy.
Your main role (besides being a sniper of course) is to put pressure on low-health targets hiding behind cover and trying to regenerate. Barrel Blast has three uses: escape, sneaking up/clearing large groups (try to not leave them much health, as Scattercannon doesn't deal much) and jumping on hard to reach places. Yes, that's possible. After the explosion you gain hardly any forward momentum, so where you want to get to needs to be on your sides; it's easier this way, but still not guaranteed. Go left or right and hope for the best. For your drone the only tip I can give is to play safer if you don't have Eggsplosion ready in a moment, or else you might not get to use it. Cannon Rodeo is for taking out very long or very short range targets or giving Chompers something to chew on while you reposition yourself.
Now to the details. Captain Cannon is a medium-long range sniper, as this is the optimal range accurate detonating. The explosion radius for his Extend-o-cannon is greatly increased when doing it, so take advantage from it. Use it to hit mobile characters like Peashooters or Garlic Drones. The shots don't always need to explode mid-air; if you see somebody standing around, go for the direct headshot as it will deal more damage. Keep in mind, that if you can't see them, it doesn't mean you can't hit them. Slowly chip away at their health from around the corner, staying safe wherever you are. When dueling somebody on higher ground only dodge left or right, or else detonating will be harder for you. If you want to back off or advance in the meantime, count more on direct hits.
Now to his close ranged weapon. The thing you need to know is that if an enemy with full health is at point-blank range you can start tiding your grave if you're caught alone. At full ammo you have four shots of it, 20 damage each - this is your Achilles' heel. If you can see them before they come to you get the biggest head start you can. In medium-close range you can try to detonate Extend-o-cannon in front of your face and hope for those 30's to land. It does the job of finishing after a Barrel Blast if you need to as it's rate of fire is a lot similar (or the same, I'm not sure) to Sharkbite's, but it's not your best tool to get vanquishes with
Now for the upgrades:
- Zoom upgrade - It helps a lot in accurate detonating.
- Ammo upgrade - A great boost for your short-ranged gun, giving it enough ammo to at least take out a Sunflower/Rose in one go (8 to 10)(can be swapped for damage/reload).
- Health regen. delay upgrade - Helps you get back up faster if you were under fire.
.- Damage upgrade - If close range doesn't give you too much trouble this will be better than ammo, because it helps both of your weapons out(can be swapped for ammo/reload).
- Reload upgrade - Risk/reward for close ranged; you need to wait a bit, but if you survive you can dish out more damage(can be swapped for damage/ammo).
...And there we go! Again, I hope it will help some of you to improve. See y'all next time!
